The International 9-Ball Open

If a player makes the nine and scratches, incoming player has ball in hand behind the head string. Why the hell would you change the rules of nine ball to help the player that made the biggest error you can make playing nine ball. Although I doubt it will come up. Can’t say I can remember a pro scratching on a nine ball. But still. Kinda goofy.

Pat said it happened 3 times last year. For us old guys we remember having to shoot the Spot Shot. Pat also said that one of the 3 was missed. So just Tournament Rule Twist. All Tournaments have the option to have special rules and about 80% do.

Totally agree. Ridiculous rule.

No Mike Dechaine?? Or Bustamante? Mike has been hitting them top notch lately winning two big events in the last year. I feel bad for the top regional players or Shortstops jumping in these murky waters. A top 32 finish by a shortstop would be a victory in my book in this field. Strong strong field.

Whomever wins this is definitely a world class world beater. I haven’t been to the US Open since 2002 and I will be attending this and can’t wait it’s gonna be awesome.

Is it true the tournament tables are gonna be open for action after play concludes for the day? Is Qmaster Billiards Open 24 hours for this event also? Wow I’m excited and I hope this event is a success for Pat that way it continues annually on the EASTCOAST.

Thanks
Allen

IIRC QMasters will be open 24hrs Wed-Sat of the event.

I'm surprised Allen Hopkins would enter such a tournament. Entry isn't free any more, right? This isn't the "US Open"- so past winners don't get free entry I would imagine.

Believe it or not, Allen just loves to play pool. He enjoys the competitive spirit. :)

My favorite Hopkins quote....the Monk was interviewing him....he asks...
“Allen, what do you do when nothing is going right in a money session?”

Allen “Get more money.”

I understand that- it's just that at his level of play he has very little chance to do well in this tournament. If it is free entry I can understand why he'd play anyway though

He likes tah play, bottom line.

Old school!

Only the best money player to come out of New York since Johnny Ervolino. Allen was a tournament champion and could take it off in the back room as well. He might have been the second best One Pocket player in the world after Efren for a long, long time. It was close between Allen and Cliff and I doubt that Efren would give Allen the same game he gave to Cliff (9-7).

Almost half the field is dead money then.
Jason

I think there's a decent amount of Americans that can cash, especially if they get an easy draw against the weaker Americans.

I would guess that the list below are the Americans with the best chances of cashing based on pure skill alone.

Corey
Rodney
Earl
Shane
Donny
Thorpe
Hatch
Bergman
Skyler
Josh Roberts
Danny Smith
Shuff
Oscar
