Shaw/ Bergman- OFF

I'll say it right here. If you're preparing to play on a normal table and then get a tight table dumped on you when you arrive - you are not prepared!

This was an obvious move from the other side.

I think most of you have never played before.
Jason

Jason you are oblivious to the facts...The table is perfect,i have played on it many times.it is tight, but not tighter than many other diamonds i have played on. It is the table that jason had pictures sent to him. Dayne miller(the promoter) even told jason if he didn,t like the table, they would bring a standard diamond in from the regular room into the arena room. He simply is scared or his stakehorse is one. Bergman told him he would play on ANY table just to make it go off. Jayson is scared because berg beat the taiwanese player at the derby and gorst shot his liver out.i,m actually shocked, because i thought jayson has the best of this game, but he simply is pulling a chicken crap move period. Leaving eveyone with lots of money and time invested, hanging. Especially DAYNE,bergman, and ray hansen.

Shaw will lose his airfare, which is usually nonrefundable?

This is bogus on Shaw's part. Can't believe a beast like him is scared. He can be given a day to shoot and practice on whatever table they decide on

I bet Filler, Shane, Dennis would hop on the flight tomm to play Bergman. Shane made a post saying he'll play JB.

If he cancels his flight and it is the standard non-refundable ticket he will get a credit for a future ticket that is generally good for one year. As long as you don't outright miss your flight you should get a credit.

Although I really wanted to see this match, I can actually see Jayson's point. If the day before they are switching the table specs on him, that's BS.

If I'm betting a lot of my own money, I certainly would want to be able to practice at home under the same conditions.

Sure, he's one of the best shotmakers in the world, but mentally having moves pulled on him obviously have a big impact, or he wouldn't be backing out.

If anyone listened to the last American Billiards Radio podcast, Mikes interview with Jayson post turning stone victory, Jayson we very pumped for this rematch. He also was outright honest with what he thought were moves during the last match (continuous cigarette breaks and delays) which he had stipulated all the facts of this match, right down to how many time outs each player would have. So Jayson was prepped and ready for the match at hand. However, I'm sure he was suspect of moves having admitted to experiencing them the last go around.

So if this is true then emails could be produced notifying Jayson about what table and what size pockets. If there is silence on the promoter end them we know they told him later. Again everyone should listen to the last ABR podcast and Jayson's interview. It sounds like he was thirsty for this rematch and he had every detail locked in. I'm sure Jayson could produce the emails/texts with the promoter detailing what table, size pockets, etc.

Also, shouldn't some blame be put on the promoter for having such a big fish on the hook and letting something trivial like pocket sizes get in the way?

I spoke with Jayson at the Derby and he was really looking forward to this match-up.

He feels he was blindsided by the conditions, thereby denied the best opportunity to prepare for this match. I, for one, am prepared to take him at his word on this.

Whether he should have pulled out is debatable, but his decision must be respected as he is the one at risk. It is hard to fathom why some choose to lambaste him. The bet is an investment and most, if not all of us, will reconsider making any investment if new or unexpected facts emerge.

Shame for Ray Hansen, a special guy in our sport, and for those who had looked forward to watching this match, but this kind of thing happens.

If the money was posted, then the match gets played minus illness or something like that.

It's enough money that someone can get a room for a few days and get acclimated to whatever table it is put on.

One person is ready and agrees to put it on whatever table and the other person says no, then there has to be some monetary loss for the person who doesn't want to play.

No show money or money taken from the other sides player.
Otherwise, what prevents this in the future?

Learned a long time ago, big matches, put up no show money or backout money. The amount of no show has to be enough that it hurts if you get out of the match.

He already has other plans lined up to go to the euro tour tonight? Sounds like he found softer action by way of a tournament and backed out.

bummer, this was going to be a good one. I bet Ray is thrilled.

No show $$$ should always be posted ALWAYS!

Have had players show hrs late and then dick around for hrs knowing they were never gonna play. Learned that lesson long ago. Worst part of it was we drove hours to their pool room.

You missed the entire point.

I also agree it's a crap thing to happen. Past experience is what's making him stay home, I'd be leary too.
Jason

sure; just insert pocket size into the above.

If the room owner will switch the table and Bergman doesn't care then, this should proceed as scheduled.

Good news SVB said he will fly in tomorrow and play him the same game and not hit a ball.

JB has yet to agree.

JB is never gonna agree. It would be like a Church if Shane walked through that door.
