I like it a lot...but I would have liked to see Eddie and Fats standing and facing each other like they were in the scene.

If you mean the scene where Eddie says that quote... the quote’s not really on the wall - I added it to the pic.

Looking at the pictures I see they have also repurposed a few old pool tables too. That Bench that the lady is wiping down has the legs from an old pool table. The long table appears to have vintage pool table rails around the border too. This place looks like a must visit if I ever get up that way. I am super into repurposing old items instead of trashing them:)

Actually, that's all from the same old 3-cushion table.

Here's a pic of Surge in its previous incarnation (Marie's Golden Cue) with that table upfront in the window. I'm not sure what brand/model it was - pretty similar to the Brunswick Pfister pocket table below it.

The new owner wanted to keep some remembrances of the venerable old joint, so he modernized all the old GCs with new tops, made new light fixtures out of the old cone-shaped table lights, and, since the 3-cushion table was too beat up to salvage, repurposed parts of it in the bench and the long table.

Marie's is where I cut my pool teeth, along with most of the good players in Chicago at the time (early 70's)...I loved the place. Everybody played there...Dallas West, Wendall Wier, Leon Ledford, Tommy Spencer, Tom Karabatsos, Joey Gold, Waterdog, Mexican Paul, Preacher, and a thousand others that escape my mind right now! It was THE room in Chicago after Bensingers closed down!

Ah...the memories! My first real teacher, Frank Oliva, lived right around the corner, a couple of blocks away!

PS...I was just out at Hard Times last month. Sorry to have missed you!

That is really cool. Did not know of the connection between the old and new place.
