Josh Filler says to SVB, "There's a new King!"

If it does I don't think SVB should be the US captain's pick unless Shane really dominates all his matches all day and is in a really confident frame of mind (neither are likely IMO but you never know). Should be either Skyler or Bergman, whichever of the two is playing best and whose confidence is higher.

Off his recent form I'd pick Bergman.

I know what you're saying, but if this reaches 10-10, Johan will never hear the end of it if he goes down with SVB sitting out the captain's pick match.

Shane will play just once tomorrow unless Match 21 is required.

I agree, Stu, can’t change horses in midstream...Shane is USA’s best.

After beating Shane again in singles, Josh Filler says, "There's a new King!"

I say get some big backers and play SVB a race to 50 or 100 for some real money.

Maybe Shaw can get up the nerve to play Bergman if he likes the pocket size.

Dream double header for PPV.

This match has already been discussed by Roy's team, and they are trying to work out the details.

We talked a bit about it right after Shane Dennis match was over, glad he(Roy) finally talked about it.

I agree, and out of the USA team members Bergman has probably historically been the most immune to pressure and least likely to lose confidence. Yes, including over Shane, who is fabulous when he is ahead or thinks he has the best of it, but who is often not real mentally strong when he is behind or thinks he has the worst of it (and no doubt Shane thinks he has the worst of it playing Filler right now even though he would likely never admit to it). But I could see Skyler or SVB being the best pick depending on how they perform tomorrow and their confidence levels.

Like sjm said, Johan probably wouldn't ever put anybody but Shane in as captain's pick for the tie breaker match, but I think he should give it some very serious consideration depending on how Shane plays and his confidence level tomorrow (and Johan has been known to do unpopular things and stick to his guns and not cave to public pressure in the past). Of course I am also one of the people that feel Shane should have been left completely off the team at least one of the years in the past, and there was a real strong argument to be made for doing that, but Johan obviously never did. For better or worse Shane will almost surely end up being captain's pick if needed.

The scenario that needs to be considered is the one in which the Mosconi reaches 10-10 and SVB says he wants to be the guy playing the tiebreaker match. I don't think public pressure is relevant here, but the big question is "How will Johan handle that situation if he thinks someone other than Shane would be a better choice for the captain's pick match?" I just can't see him passing on Shane unless it's Shane's decision/recommendation that somebody else get the assignment.

Jermey Jones mentioned in his commentary during the CSI match that Shane is more of a coach than most think. He provides constant input on the players and himself, and he knows things to look for when he consults with Johan and Jeremy.

I think Shane himself will be able to self coach and help Johan make the decision of he thinks another teammate could work better.

hi

Its been a while that Filler, Ko Ping Chung and Wu are on the top, others are just trying to catch them.

Shane has no luck for some reason...

You aren't king in pool til you dominate at least a decade as Shane and others have.

Remember all the fuss about Kaci....without the big wins he was just flavor of the year.

SVB takes the money he doubled on Orcullo and free rolls vs Filler. That's what needs to happen.

There's a new guy at the top of fargo - Zheng at 729, no idea who that guy is.

He just won the Japan Championship last week, and beat all the killers to do so convincingly. He's 18 years old. I think he's every bit as good as Filler after watching him. He's also fast and confident like him. You can watch him on youtube on the Japan Championship page. I hope we see a ton of him, I see him and Filler being the top two over the next 15 years.

Sorry but Filler is the king right now and it's not even close. A king need not sit on the throne for a decade to be called king. FYI, there is no 12 month period in Shane's career in which he had two golds and a bronze in the WPA Sanctioned events. Filler won the WPA World championship, won the US Open, and won bronze at the International.

By the way, I don't remember any fuss about Kaci.

Winner of the recent Japan Open 10-ball, who just turned 18 in October. A helluva straight shooter, whose game reminds me a lot of Filler's, though not as refined at this point.

The only match I saw was the one he lost lol.
