Just got a text from a team mate that our apa league operators are cancelling league play for the nexf couple of weeks at least.

Pusses out? Have you had your head in the sand for the past week?

I'm thinking he was J/K.

Most everyone that was taking this to lightly have changed their way of thinking in the last couple days.

Sure, there will always be a few that refuse to be mature and prepare.

Isn't it funny how the people that hold their ground while saying this or that is nothing and people are overreacting or its just a hoax are:

The very first people to get in trouble and end up relying on the very people they thought crazy to bail them out of a jam?

I've got a few people in my life (some family and some friends) that refused to stock necessities early on. Guess who is having to ask for supplies? Yep, but what can we do?

I just hope this opens their eyes and makes them understand that just because were more advanced now, it doesn't mean we can't fall upon dangerous times just like when the Spanish Flu hit in 1918(???).

I guess apa.hq read your post and took your advice tate ;)

 Our league finally postponed for two weeks after a near mutiny. I don't care how long they postpone, I'm not playing until we get ahead of this thing. Gonna be a lotta ghost play!

I just came back from the grocery store, a couple of people almost came to blows over a box of pasta. It was an eye opening excursion for me and left me very disappointed in society.
I'm seeing primal instincts beginning to return and I'm just as scared of this as everyone else. In thinking about things though I've began to wonder, it's pretty normal to see the American
public over react to just about everything, but are we? People are dying out there, but more people than die from the flu, or any other infectious disease? You can do the research, but in
truth most research is subjective. It's generally not a problem to find something labeled as facts to prove your own point.
Bars and restaurants closing, I haven't heard of movie theaters closing but I'm sure it's coming, places that we work are shutting down and what effect will that have on our income position,
and if we accrue sick time or vacation time how long before that is exhausted.
Closing all these places and shutting down our places of employment is wiping out something that might be pretty important and that's social interaction. Social media will become far more
important than ever before. It will be the only method of human contact for some of us.
So all that being said, I'm kinda between the APA position on this thing, good? Bad? I don't know, but I do know that I will probably begin to look more forward to league night than I ever have before.
I can play all the pool I want at my own table in my house, and I enjoy that, but I love my friends and I enjoy that couple of hours a week with them. I've said many times that I don't go there to play
really, playing, meh..... I can take it or leave it, but I love the environment. Besides that, how long can we stay home locked up, afraid of what might happen if we leave?
Sure, I'll be more careful, we will likely not kiss or hug at the end of the night like we normally do, I doubt that the match will conclude with a hand shake but if we do I'm sure we will wash thoroughly,
I'll be the only one using my chalk and I'll have my hand sanitizer in my bag and that will most likely be the only thing I'll share with anyone. I can't imagine not having something to look forward to,
even if it's just league night.
I think it's a personal decision and it really should be left to the teams, but if they choose to sit out the rest of the session they shouldn't be penalized for it or charged for matches before they're allowed
to play again.
I don't want to get sick or be sick, no one does, but I, but we need to maintain some normalcy. I will bet, that when this is over, when it ends and we all take stock, we will find that the divorce rate has
blown up, and crimes are at an all time high.
I don't think it's so much how we live through this crisis, but how we come out of it. It's like pool according to Mark Twain, this crisis won't build any personal character as much as it will reveal it. So far it don't look good

This is 98% respiratory transmitted. All the handwashing in the world can't change that. Every interaction risks catching this and spreading it further.

That's the ticket.

We have to accept this fornwhat it is and handle it accordingly.

Give the ghost hell sir!

Be safe,

Jeff

Just wait until the apparatus is in place for mass testing in this country. It is estimated there may be anywhere from 100,000 to 500,000 people who are already infected but remain untested. This nation may go into shock when we see the real number of people who have already contracted the virus. The numbers remain low because very few people have been tested, thanks to you know who.

I'm afraid the worst is yet to come, so best be prepared.

Jay,
People are in shock.

There are stages.

Denial is where many still are.

Then the anger, the outrage of how unfair this all is for us all.

Then the bargaining, thinking this will be just a few weeks or it somehow couldn't directly affect us.

Then depression, which is the feeling of being overwhelmed.

And if we work through all stages. then comes the slow realization this is real...which is acceptance.

You can see how we as a group here have gone through some of these stages. I pray this situation doesn't get worse. We know it will.

I've worked with thousands of patients who have died of cancer. Personally I have not had many loses, both my parents are alive, my family is small and we are largely healthy. Despite my perspective, I am still victim to our basic protective mechanisms of handling grief. Everybody please just allow yourself the space to work through this.

If your are blaming the president for this, I have to say this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard you say.

Put the blame where it belongs. CHINA. I dont beleive for one minute this is a natural occurrence. As you know, One of China's biolabs is withing blocks of the market where it was said to have started. I firmly believe it was a project they were working on and it got loose. Infected a lab technician, and he went to the market after work.

Dont blame Trump for this. We have been giving away our manufacturing capabilities for decades. He is trying to build it back up. Did you not just hear China threatening us to withhold medications if we dont stop calling this the China virus. 90% or more of our medicines come from there. He's done more to remove red tape than any president in history.

If you advocate a European type health care system, just take a look how well it worked for them.

Joey, I'm going to let your statements (all of them including my being stupid) stand on their own. I think it is a good indication of where your head is at and what kind of critical thinking you are capable of.

Meanwhile in the real world, the ACS (American Cuesports) is still sending out emails to it's members (and selected others) that the deadline for entries into their National Championships slated for May 9-16 at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas is March 16. They will still accept late entries from March 17-30 with a $25 late fee added. Perhaps they haven't got the news yet about the Corona Virus or maybe Joey is advising them.

First of all my name is not Joey. Second of all I think very clearly. And like what typically happens these days , you miss quoted what I said. I did not call you stupid. What I said was, you said something stupid . Do you think Obama would have done any better? What about Biden? Hell, He can barely dress himself in the morning.

Let me take a guess of what Obama would have done. First they would have declared a national emergency. Then he would have done what some of the liberal governors, like in Illinois, are doing . He would have suspended all gun and ammunition sales Nationwide. Would that have done anything to keep us safe? No pretty much everybody that owns a gun has plenty of ammunition too. It would just have been a political move.

I play BCA. I called my league operator the moment I heard Bars were being closed. I totally agree with it. Pool is not that important. How's that for Clear thinking for you?

And as for my cognitive skills, I don't let the news networks, NONE OF THEM, do my thinking for me. You know, I used to think that politicians were the scum of the Earth. Now I'm positive the journalists have topped that list. The misquoting or mischaracterization of what people say to justify their own agenda. And then say it's their constitutional right to do so.
