oliver seems to not only have gone under the radar but also to have done so without losing a match. all other semifinalists came from the loser's side
 
Smart decision from Omar to not kick the 7 into a wide open table. It appears to have paid off, for now. He's found some confidence, but has got to stop missing balls lol.
 
Poor safety choice or execution by Oliver with BIH on the 7. Left an easy kick safe return and it cost him.

Yeah, I thought he'd lock him up on the other side of the 8? Omar took a foul hoping that Oliver would do exactly what he just did. Usually Oliver is good at these ticky safeties, but Omar got the better of him on this one.

One could have said the same before Shane's match...
 
It is all mental game this year.. When people lose their routines confidence goes down: Many pros unable to play competitions last year make them weaker on mind.

Oliver not handling the pressure well now. Momentum and jitters have switched sides. Now down 7-6 after a poor safety attempt leads to a short rack combo.
 
Omar has found his form and Oliver is starting to look very shaky. Not much of a match in terms of quality, but competitive.
 
Oli gets a clean shot, albeit a tester and sinks it to complete the runout, having the 9 wipe it's feet on a relatively easy shot to close the gap to 8-7.
 
We have a match. Oli made a long 2 that he would usually miss on the outside tables. Oli 7-8
 
The U.S. Open has now been scheduled only two weeks before the International 9-Ball Open, also on the East Coast. This could be an attempt by Matchroom to undermine the event or be useful in bringing more players to the area to compete in both events. The jury is out.

Jay, international is October 22-30 And the US Open is September 13-18.
