Ideas that haven't saved pool

They need to get the Mosconi Cups on Netflix. They have a great crowd and lots of drama. Make an additional few
Minutes of footage explaining how 9 ball is played.
I have a friend who works at ROKU, he is a higher up there. He said they would love getting Matchroom Sports on there. Anyone know how to get a hold of someone at Matchroom?

Here's something to think about, as it pertains to ROKU as well.

Though the streaming giant has plenty of sports shows and documentaries at its disposal, it has traditionally steered away from live sports. Historically, Netflix's position on the subject has been pretty firm. In 2018, Netflix's Vice President of business development in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Maria Ferreras, outright told Variety that there were no plans to invest on live sports broadcasting because the company likely couldn't bring anything extra to the table in that content realm.

"I think in terms of live sports there's nothing we can do differently from a television broadcaster, so it doesn't add additional value," Ferreras explained. "You can never say never, but there's no plans to go into that

Pool needs its own subscription based platform with video on demand, but who's going to pay for it? Who's the sponsors? How to they get a ROI?

I believe accu-stats does that for a chunk of their matches, as well as having an pretty awesome youtube channel with classic matches on it.

TAR did it for their matches too.... POV Pool as well.

The problem is getting them all under "one roof". Even the entertainment industry can't do that, which is why we have so many different subscription services out there now like Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney+, Paramount, etc...

With all the different "organizations" for players in pool and companies being loyal to certain events, etc, .. this is something that will never happen.

Ok😅

The mistake all of you make, is judging the viewership of pool through your eyes, and those are not the eyes if the rest of the world!!
Talk, talk, talk. We don't know shit yet you have it all figured out. You're not only a pompous ass you're also delusional.

Because this sport has never had a sponsor yet, so why would you make a prediction that it could never go mainstream on its own subscription based platform, when its never been attempted yet.

Regardless of any type of sponsorship, do you really see Matchroom Streaming/VOD and Accu-stats Streaming/VOD, as well as the random spattering of streaming 1-off Matches (like Shane vs Sky etc) all only happening under 1 service?

You would either need to get all the others on the same page or put them all out of business first and still acquire the rights to their previous matches.

Then if that were to happen, what is stopping another random YouTube Channel from throwing up their own match between 2 top pros and still charging a PPV or VOD? You would then need contracts between the players to not go off and do something like that, which is yet another thing that has failed miserably in the past.

I mean, I don't see Matchroom falling in line with any one else's service. They have already tread all over other Tournaments with date scheduling in the past. They have all the majors now and then some. Why would they want to put there matches on someone else's platform?

Cobra served in RVN, is Travel Pool Table, Assembler, Fixer, Resorer, and have knowledge to run Amazon. Sure he has been business consultant with long record of successful business that he can point too and say I saved, and made them what they are today.

Understand both Trump & Biden offer RKC Cabinet positions, but RKC passed to save Pool.

Matchroom does not have all the majors. The don't have the China Open, the All-Japan Championship, or the International 9-ball, three of the highest profile events in our sport.

To play Devil's advocate... let's say by the end of 2022 there is a 1 stop shop for all Pool Media consumption. 1 Service to rule them all LOL. Let's Call it "RKC-TV" for lack of a better term.

So with all over RKC-TV's new found success and with their incredible and generous sponsorship from In-Bev,... somewhere in the shadows a new threat lurks... A new rising Pool Streaming Service with a Sponsorship from Coca-Cola! Now we have 2 Streaming Services!

Wait... another! The APA and BCA and TAP have all joined forces to form a Third! The all Pool League Streaming Service. Key matches from Weekly match ups and High Level tournaments are streamed. The US Amateur is Streamed Here. The VEGAS APA and BCA League Events are here.

And then what do we end up with? The same thing the happened to Cable Television. Channels competing with each other... The same thing in the current world of Entertainment Streaming. Netflix started it, others wanted in with their specific areas and properties and now they exist too.

Most Pool player do not know the name of tier one players, list three. Then hit up 100 recreational player with do you know who “x” is.

Ask other sports fab to name all NFL Teams, or, MLB, NBA teams different story.

Think stream Pool is not going to be money maker until you have some big companies play for sponsorship, and sport promotion.

Hell if Robert demerit, Jennifer Aniston, Billie Bob Thornton were promoting Pool.

Places like Golden Cue is Phx would still be open.

Those big start get $250,000.00 for post on Instagram. I use xyz, pay me for saying so.🤣

Just because it's happened to literally every other service of it's kind, doesn't mean it will happen with pool. Glen knows people and things and stuff.

That's called "dodging". Been around awhile as a term but still as fresh as a daisy.
He's a idiot. And equally as bad, he believes his experience is representative of others' experiences.

Those who do not learn from the past will repeat the mistakes of those before. This is very true of pool: the occasional Patreon steps up and flashes some cash, makes some promises and then disappears. The players involved know the pattern and they grab what they can.

Even in TOP level sport, the search for sustainable funding is a struggle.

What he says is true though...a common logical error for one to believe his experience is equivalent to others'.
