Bank Pool

whatever the case is, i feel like i get more spin on the cue ball with a softer tip. i don't care about the physics behind it

Sometimes life bees like that the mind is a powerful thing. The truth is good to know tho. Bad info can creep into other facets and play tricks we didn’t know were coming because we invented it. They are big parts of how the game will grow and one day blossom into something better than we had it and left it hopefully.

All the best,

The reason why would have to be voodoo or magic.

“The force that produces the speed and the force that produces the spin are the same force, and at a given offset any additional force increases the two in the same ratio.”

Changes of angular velocity and acceleration over distance/time is what creates spin

I think Einstein solved that.

Well, no, actually someone figured most of that stuff out about 300 years before Einstein, and Coriolis added a lot of the details about 1835. If you get into the Einstein regime, the balls tend not to stay on the table.

Elementary dear Watson!

All the balls are everywhere at all times!

Its madness.

He needs to quit breaking them so hard then. ;)
It's interesting that pool players tend to guess balls speeds up around the same as tennis and baseball. Now that would be some experiment. And still essentially no Lorentz-Fitzgerald contraction. I'll bet something shatters at 100MPH.

I never checked but I am pretty sure my break speed at around 75% power ( I like to be able to control the QB so I dont usually mash it as hard as I can) is like 60-65 MPH. :):)

I basically only play banks, only game I enjoy. As far as a tips go the best for me is a kamui black medium. I’ve tried soft tips but when playing banks you’re often hitting with a fair amount of pace, that is common among nearly all banks players so I switched back to medium quickly.

As others have said though this is very much a preference question so it shouldn’t really be transferred as some sort of game specific rule. Try a few and go from there, also keep in mind short rack and full rack banks play quite differently as far as shot selection and the firm hitting of balls.

The best Bank Pool players hit many of their shots at warp speed. There's no roll off that way. Remember, Bank Pool is the purest pool game, where there is virtually no luck involved. Every shot must be made cleanly without contacting any other ball and all shots must be called. Of course between good players they both know where most shots are being played, so no verbal address is necessary. Still they usually will point to a pocket or say, "Side or Corner."

Why are you replying to me with that haha, I said I hit with pace as do most bank pool players and I know the game, play with all the players who play it. Many consider me to be pretty proficient at the activity ;)

I was agreeing with you. I used to play a sporty game of Banks myself. I got some W's over name players! (y)

Even at my advanced age (over 70) I got out of the chair where I had been watching Dennis and Warren go at it for a couple of hours to play one game with Sir Warren. I broke and ran five and out (on a tight Diamond table), put my cue in the rack and quit. Ask him! ;)
