Arriving nearly a week in advance is an encouraging sign for the US team. Allows for plenty of time to adjust to jet lag, the food, the tables, etc.

I heard someone say "We are going to kick some European ass." I just hope the Euros don't hear that too. That might give them all the incentive they need.
I don’t have any problem with a little trash talking on a spur of the moment video like this. Saying it in the pre-tournament press conference would be something entirely different! Everyone knows the US team is at the very least a +500 underdog to win the Cup this year.

Most of the Las Vegas sports books wouldn't even make book on the fight, only on the number of rounds it would last. As we know, Douglas scored an almost inconceivable upset to win the title from Tyson. Perhaps the US will do the same, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Right you are Stu. I believe we were underdogs in 18 and 19 but managed to pull it off. It will be many years before team USA is favored again. Trash talking is certainly part of the show. I am disappointed that it will not be in Vegas this year. I was one click away from seeing this live this year but decided to visit Italy a few weeks ago instead.
I truly miss the great times we have had in Vegas but I am holding out hope for that in the future.

The first 9 Cups were held in England, but the venue for the last 18 Cups has been in the USA in odd-numbered years and in Europe in even-numbered years. What is the reason for returning to England again this year? Problems or uncertainties with finding a suitable location in the USA during the pandemic? To make up for not having spectators in England last year? Other?

Until a few weeks ago, you couldn't fly into the United States from a European Union country even if vaccinated. You could fly into the Unted States from some other countries as long as you had not been in a European Union country for fourteen days. For example, Ralph Eckert, who introduced Thorsten Hohmann at the BCA Hall of Fame ceremony in late October, was not able to fly in from Germany. Hence, Ralph first went to Turkey and stayed two weeks before he was allowed by immigration to board a flight to the United States. Most of the European players that played in the US Open, American Straight Pool and the International also did the Turkey thing.
Vaccinated Americans have been free to enter the UK for months, so this arrangement made sense. As we saw, many Americans were able to get to the World Pool Championships held in England in June.
Had this Mosconi Cup been scheduled to be held in the USA, it surely would have been cancelled, as it's hard to imagine that all Matchroom personnel and Team Europe members would have been asked, expected, or willing to go through what the others did just to get into America, which appeared necessary just a month ago.
For sure, my friend. Circumstance has denied me the pleasure of your company, but time, I hope, will fix that.
I think Italy was the right move. I've been to Como, Milan, Venice, Florence, and Rome and enjoyed all of them.
