Jeremy Jones taking over for Earl on team

This is why Earl was the only player pulled from the event. Nobody else from team USA was on the flight.
This has nothing to do with Matchroom it's government in the UK.

You do have to quar. but based on the exceptions i posted he should still be able to play. Says even if quarantined int'l sports participants can go back and forth to practice and event. These may have changed due to omicron idk.

terryhanna, are you saying this has nothing to do with Matchroom and its government in the UK? Or are you saying this has nothing to do with Matchroom, that it is, in fact, the government in the UK that is enforcing this rule?

The missing period or comma after "Matchroom" and before "it's" in your post is why I am asking.

Pretty stupid of Earl not to get vaccinated. That would have made this all a lot easier for him and the team.
And it would be far more foolish for matchroom and all involved with the show to do anything that isn't AT LEAST 100% compliant with covid restrictions that are in effect.

I just contacted a few on this, a couple are well known Euro area players. Because Earl hasn't been vaccinated he has to isolate. The others have been so they do not have to isolate based on a close contact.
That explains everything if true.
1. It explains why they seemed to all be on the same flight, because they all got off the same shuttle to the hotel, but only Earl has to quarantine.
2. It explain why Emily didn't really want to talk about it. What's she going to say, "Earl is the only idiot to not get vaxxed!" Even though I'm sure that's exactly what she's thinking.
3. It explains why Early referred to vaccination not providing complete protection in his post explaining why he had to quarantine. It seemed kind of irrelevant, but this would explain it.

As usual with Earl, stupid is as stupid does. Just because the guy can make pool shots doesn't mean he's not a complete moron.

Being unvaccinated is not "irrelevant" when there are global travel restrictions in which vaccination status plays a key role.

When you get off you have to use the UK's contact trace app. Someone on his flight tested positive so he has to isolate. If he'd been vax'd he'd be playing.

Earl was not on same plane. When you get off you have to use the UK's contact trace app. Someone on his flight tested positive so he has to isolate. If he'd been vax'd he'd be playing.
Are you sure he wasn't on the same plane? If all the other players were vaxxed and on the same plane, they could get the same exposure notification, but test negative and then not need to quarantine, while he would still need to quarantine because he wasn't vaxxed.

Again, I'm not seeing why there are different rules for vaccinated vs non-vaccinated. The vaccine has no bearing on being infected or transmitting COVID. All people on that flight (vaccinated or not) can become infected and contagious. The rules are maddening. Look, if someone wants to roll the dice and wind up on a ventilator or dead, that's on them. Vaccinated folks can get and transmit COVID. It's a fact.

I changed my post 'cause i'm not sure about that. Bottom line is he wasn't vax'd and this is the result. No conspiracy just the loony world we have now. Up until just recently apparently he could have gone back and forth to play but not right now. My guess is omicron has them a little jumpy.

Disagree here. Of course the vax is no 100% guarantee but it greatly reduces the chance. I know a IC nurse and she told me that in the last 4-5 mos. at least 80% of covid-related patients are un-vax'd. I'm surprised that you can fly without it. I didn't know those regs had changed but i'm no traveler.

Regardless of your stance on the vaccination, or the wisdom of the rules in place, it seems like Earl's decision to not get vaxxed just lost him between $15-30k. In other words, it was a very bad decision.

Very disappointing as I was very much looking forward to seeing Earl back on the table. JJ isn't a bad player by any means, but this event just got a lot more difficult to be excited about. I don't see any scenario where USA can match up against EU at this point, though we've seen upsets before and it's still races to 5, anything can happen I suppose. I'll still watch because I'm a hardcore fan, and it's my favorite thing to watch all year across all sports, but it's a bummer.

Guess common sense is out the window. "IF" he was exposed and infected, they're all infected now.
There is video of all them playing pool together a few days ago... craziness to think it's all a conspiracy to get rid of Earl, even more craziness to think all this was to keep another hot headed tard off the team and get JJ a spot... but don't call me Shirly... haha.

Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled all together. Really wanted to see Earl on that stage again, but, I'm ok with JJ. Those short races who knows what's going to the happen.

If they all traveled on the same flight, they all have the same risk of getting COVID by the infected passenger.
