It's all good.

Hall of fame ballots are public after the vote these days. After Griffey was denied a unanimous vote by one idiot who wanted to be an self-important ass and had secrecy to hide behind, they did away with the secret ballot, and the votes are made public immediately after the results are announced, so no one can pull that crap again. He's not in the HOF because the old farts that vote for the HOF are butt hurt that he broke Aaron's record.
And another thing. Why is it that these members that vote for the HOF are allowed to keep their ballot private? Many make them public, but the old coots need secrecy.
Yes, I am bitter about Bonds and Clemens not being elected into the HOF.
Pete sat in the row next to me in 2015 on my way to the M-cup from Denver, The most interesting flight I have ever been on.Neither is Pete Rose, he’s a fun guy to hang out with. He was living in Vegas for a long time.
Yes, you’re correct. The BBWAA changed that in 2018.Hall of fame ballots are public after the vote these days. And Bonds and Clemens aren't in because they're lying cheats. they not only persistently doped, they bald-faced lied about to Congress, bringing disrepute to the game.
Of course, this is a game that still allows A-Rod to work as a commentator when he should have been banned for life for being a PED trafficker.
I like Pete. I met him through Reggie Jackson-who I met at the gym in 01/02. I ended up selling “Jacks” sports memorabilia in the catalog I published. He’s a dick, but Pete was fun.Pete sat in the row next to me in 2015 on my way to the M-cup from Denver, The most interesting flight I have ever been on.
Yeah, but Bob Feller was a guy none of those sluggers enjoyed facing...View attachment 630397
"Trying to sneak a fastball by Ted Williams was like trying to sneak a sunbeam by a rooster in the morning."
-Bob Feller
Bonds is a cretin and should never get in. Who cares who votes against him. It should stay secret so they can't be harassed by lunatic fans. Ron Kittle, former MLB player and ROY, tried to get Bonds to sign a jersey as he was auctioning baseball stuff to raise money for cancer research. That's what good retired folks do.He's not in the HOF because the old farts that vote for the HOF are butt hurt that he broke Aaron's record.

Ceuelemans...yes.Is there tape available showing those stances?
Feller was a great pitcher, but Williams batted .349 against him for his career, with a .478 on-base % and a .685 slugging %.Yeah, but Bob Feller was a guy none of those sluggers enjoyed facing...
I heard Sandy Koufax could throw a cue ball over 120 mph.I think we have to understand that the mound was higher then, so that might affect stance.
Handy in a bar fight.I heard Sandy Koufax could throw a cue ball over 120 mph.
Well he could have just sent him a pmI never realized there were so many guys named Jay Helfert, on this forum.
No offense here, just citing my personal experiences with Pete and Lenny.I like Pete. I met him through Reggie Jackson-who I met at the gym in 01/02. I ended up selling “Jacks” sports memorabilia in the catalog I published. He’s a dick, but Pete was fun.
Lenny isn’t the monster the media makes him out to be. I met Doc Goden and Strawberry at the 86 Mets reunion with Lenny once. Doc nicest guy EVER! Straw sat next to me at the dinner, super chill nice guy as well, hasn’t aged. Wow he’s massive, has a great tailor too. Super sharp dressed.
I used to go to A’s games in the early 80’s and followed American League until 90 then kinda stopped paying much attention to baseball.
It was kinda cool meeting these guys years later. Never thought that would happen. I still talk with Lenny pretty often. Fun times. His stories-wow, I’ve had a boring life compared to him. Nails!!! He’s so strong, crazy. Gifted too.
Fun times, life takes us on twists and turns. Some good, some bad. I’ve been lucky. Interesting to meet successful people. Or people who are the best at what they do

Fatboy
Lenny isn’t going to win any congeniality contests that’s certain. He’s brutal to work with. I don’t agree with his style, it’s very poor form. However as his friend he’s loyal as it gets. He’s the dead opposite of how he treats his lawyers etc. He is his own worst enemy 10X over. I fully agree with you.No offense here, just citing my personal experiences with Pete and Lenny.
in the mId eighties I was 13-14 years old and a friend and I attended a baseball card show where Eric Davis and Pete Rose were signing. I can't recall what they were charging to sign but it wasn't cheap especially in the eyes of a 13-14 year old. They took a break and Pete was in line at the concession stands to grab a bite. I mustered up the courage to introduce myself and ask for his auto. He belittled me, raising his voice and making a scene. As an adult, I understand his stance of signing all day (for money) and not wanting to give away freebies but there are ways to handle the situation and his choice wasn't one of them. Great ball player but he lacks in the people skills department. My buddy and I caught Eric Davis heading out. At the time Davis was a much bigger name than Rose. He gladly stopped and talked with us for a few moments and signed for us. From what I gathered, he was a good guy.
My cousin in law represented Lenny when he was in legal troubles here in LA about 10 years ago. I will just say this about him: dude is a piece of work and not in a good way. I know not everybody has class, dignity and integrity but this guy is downright despicable.
As a side note, I would have loved to meet Dwight and Darryl; two of my childhood heros. It's a real bummer the Mets messed with Dwight's mechanics and both couldn't beat their addictions. They both had Hall of Fame talent and could have put up monster career numbers.
Maybe so, but his first wife was white, and his two oldest kids are half white.Bonds is a cretin and should never get in. Who cares who votes against him. It should stay secret so they can't be harassed by lunatic fans. Ron Kittle, former MLB player and ROY, tried to get Bonds to sign a jersey as he was auctioning baseball stuff to raise money for cancer research. That's what good retired folks do.
Bonds said he doesn't sign for white kids. Kittle, looked at him and said black kids get cancer too. Kittle is a big boy, and not through PED's and could have pulled Bonds apart limb from limb, but didn't. I wish he had though. Kittle published this in his book as well. Not one lawsuit. Kittle was a well liked guy when he played by media and fans. No drugs, no fights, no rapes, no DUI's, etc. Nobody every questioned his integrity about anything. So, do I believe him over a blowhard like Bonds. Gosh darn right I do. Why would he make a story like that up ?? He never said a bad word about Bonds before this incident.
When I was 10 years old Pete Rose came to a department store in Louisville to sign autographs, and I got the chance to go. I was a huge Cincinnati Reds fan, and this was an absolute rarity in my childhood to be able to do something like this (I never so much as got to go to a baseball game or any sporting event as a kid). I stood in line for a long time, as the line stretched all the way out of the store. No offense here, just citing my personal experiences with Pete and Lenny.
