It's hard to know what's going on without being there, but the level of play has been consistently mediocre on the stream table. And it's not like they are putting pikers on the stream table...

The 3-ball Fedor missed down the rail looked like a sure pot but ended up rattling out badly. He looked more confused than angry.

Immonen just missed a shot on the same rail that looked like it curved away from the rail.

More table weirdness as a slow-roll shot on the 3 by Immonen actually bobbled backward and stayed out as it was about to fall into the pocket.

I noticed that with draw shots more balls are rattling than usual. In the slow mo's many did seem to be hit poorly, but not all.
 
It's pretty funny watching Kaci on a shot clock. He always runs it down to the end and you have to think that will burn him at some point.

These tables aren't very consistent, but I trust Predator to fix the problems. Maybe we are all just spoiled, having just watched the US Open played on Diamond tables that were pretty close to perfect.

There is a notoriously slow carom player who times his strokes by the five-second beeper. Really. It's amazing.

American participation has been in decline, but understandably. The top-heavy payout means that only 8 of the 64 in the field walk away with anything to speak of after expenses. These ten ball events might end up being deemed Euro-tour events if things continue to evolve as we've seen to date. Only the truly elite can expect to make money by playing these events and, as we know, some of the truly elite are so turned off by this format that they have little to no interest in participating. It's a shame, because there is some potential for these events.

I looked over the bracket...man, this is a TOUGH tournament to win. We're not even down to the last 16 and it's only killers left.

Does anyone notice Roberto Gomez has been in form for about a year? It feels like he's been in the mix quite a bit lately....maybe a little breakthrough?

Seems to me he’s been in form for more like the past 5+ years!

Tables with extremely tight pockets will get progressively tighter every day since they’ve been recovered. I’m not sure what the pocket specs on those tables are, but it could be that.

Agreed, and it's nothing to do with pocket size, either. The players, as a group, have been a little off, but maybe the level will rise now that we're in Stage 2. Mika has looked very sharp to me to this point.
