A lot of wealthy people (and supposedly smart) gave millions of dollars to Bernie Madoff. My own mother (who was fairly wealthy) was touted on investing with Bernie over 30 years ago. She passed on it and stuck to investing in property that she owned. She liked to control her own investments! Smart lady. I'm the same way.Yes that’s true. Protect yourself at all times.
However the FTC and other alphabet soup agencies protect the dumb people and therefore to tout financial biz there’s rules, regulations, licenses required to protect the ignorant from such predatory trade practices…..
You would be amazed how greed makes people get stupid. Smart people get stupid for that matter. Casino’s are a prime example of that. As is the lottery at $1.8B right now-which of course I’m playingthe hypocrisy runs deep…….

do have one guy on my list , can’t get him to bet like I want him to , he stalls me everytime I go through NOLA …. TIGER IS HIS NAME , he is more like a KITTY CAT . He knows how I feel so I’m not talking behind his back . Maybe one of you guys could have a talk with him / go in with him . The guy beats me everytime we play , he’s up like 20k on me but he stalls for 12 hrs and then low balls me on the bets . They say he is a good score but damn if I see it, he can get played a 500k $ set or more , that could be done at the Derby for all of Louisiana/ NOLA to see . If that's all it was, that's absolutely nothing.
I have never touched bitcoin, and never will, with a 10 foot pole. But JS pumping it is nothing bad at all. Anyone dumb enough to buy xyz due to a pool player (or anyone, really) pumping it, deserves their fate. Another thing is JS put his money where his mouth is and was buying it himself. That right there is worth a lot.
I've done the same with everyone I know personally in the stock market with regards to AAPL. Saying to buy it for the past 20 years. I have put my money where my mouth is. Of course, no one listens. But if anyone did listen, and the stock went bankrupt, that is not on me. Just like bitcoin bursting its bubble is 1000% not on John. I've taken stock tips from peers that I lost 80% on, before dumping it. I'm not mad at the people who gave the tips at all, and still talk stocks with them all the time.
LOL... Considering I made about 19K on a 4K investment in about 9 months with little to no risk, eh...I'll take my own advice thank you very much...

I don't know that I'm following anything here. Bitcoin is still 21K per coin. That's 100% over what it was 2 years ago...Sure it's fallen from its height, but when I started mining ethereum and traded it for some bitcoin and other coins, ethereum was less $400 a coin and is now $1600.
Just like with any investment, you've got to know when to get in and when to get out. I sold my ethereum and other altcoins just past when they were at their height.
When the value is there, or is going to be there, I'll mine and/or trade. I do my own analyses and make up my own mind.
But the people who were saying it's a dumb investment proved to be dumb. AFTER the crash it's still WAY up over what it was.
Ethereum has made the transition to 2.0 and is no longer POW so mining isn't what it was, but so what. I made the money I made and my investment still has a higher intrinsic value than it did when I made the purchase (physical mining hardware).
I had seen where mining was going right before the big blow up and got in before GPU prices flew through the roof and had started mining before the huge bull run on crypto.

When I heard Ca I thought we had the best of it. I figured, ok 80% of the ticket sales were not in Ca so the equity was up strong for us to have the winning ticket. I’d have hedged right then for $200,000,000- sadly that wasn’t an option.
I had savers with 4 guys and promised one guy that I’d give him all my cues-I wanted to jinx myself into winning. There’s a couple cues that would be hard to give away-not a $ thing. But I’d fully come to terms with being cueless for the first time in 40+ years. Didn’t work.
We won $13 and I lost $300 in 2 draws. Was a free roll as I won $650 the weekend before on pool side bets.
Let’s do a save again when it runs up over a billion.
