Who here has been hit by a cue ball, and object ball or a chunk of Ball that happened during play?
On a similar thought.
I was playing Vickery years ago before his jailing on a Barbox.
Broke the balls, cue ball went vertical, hit the dbl florescent.
Game ended we split our post money and quit.
Too many shards on the surface.
Louisiana pool room.

Close…

I was shooting off the foot rail while someone on the table behind me was breaking

Their cue ball jumped off their table, I actually felt it go by as it flew past my head and hit the top of my shaft as I was down on the shot. That's how close it came to my head…

I used to have a pretty good aim with a cue ball off of a barbox. The occasional accident was a good way to push people back in a crowded place when they ignored a request to move. "Damn, a shot in the 'nads. That must have hurt. So sorry!"

I have been the victim of a broken light in a bar in Louisiana a handful of times. Unprotected fluorescent bulbs at the height they hang in bars are often more of a case of when than if.

I have been hit by balls a few times, usually coming from the next table. Some hurt, mostly no big deal.

I find it embarrassing to play somebody that is constantly disturbing others with flying balls and usually don't play them long. One guy did make a very nice break, on the table behind ours!

I saw a dude wind up for a break and end up launching the ball completely off the table... Didn't hit the rack at all. Ball flew about ten feet where it smashed the top 2/3 off a full pilsner glass. Beer everywhere, the ball was resting in the bottom 1/3 off the glass. The crack junkie sitting next to the glass was one confused boy... He had no clue what had happened.

I watched the whole thing and started applauding. About half the people in the tourney joined me in clapping.

I used to smash beer glasses out of the bystanders hands in the college bar. I often played pool with the owner and she would chew my ass out after doing it.

There was a carpeted bench along 1 wall that was a little too close to the barbox. As I went to shoot a shot a young lady leaned ahead looking to her side. My backstroke which had room banged her right in the temple. She was very apologetic about the incident and made it up to me a hour later.

About two months ago I was standing behind a bar table player breaking the rack.
After the break, his Cue went back & Up towards me almost hitting me in the head.
I was three feet Behind his handle hand.
Boy I got lucky! there.

At 6'8" could he reach your block head?😜

Not by cue ball but by field hockey ball which weighs about same as pool ball around 6 oz. Must be from about 40m. Was about 11 then.
Lucky thing was it hit exactly that protruding bone on back of my neck instead of softer part of my head. Must be really good player to hit the spot from such distance :ROFLMAO::LOL:

I hit myself in the nuts one time. It must have been 25 years ago. We were all standing around the table trying to get 9 rails on a GC. Somehow when I took my attempts, the CB got slightly airborne on the second rail, then higher off the third rail, then right into my junk. It hurt too. ha ha.

Another time in a room with tables lined end to end, the opponent on my table was breaking, while the next table the guy was racking. My breaker scooped the CB right into the back of the neck on the next table. We were all bangers then. I learned real quick from that point on how and when to stand when someone is breaking. The guy that got hit was ok.

I've also seen in banger days the guy would rack, and the opponent would break real fast as the racker was putting the rack away. No thanks. I learned from that to keep the CB until the racker is well out of the way. Not an issue with experienced players, only bangers do this, in my experience.

Flash back, playing in a room in Wheaton IL 1966. They had a tall ceiling, with light fixtures about 4' above the table light, they turned em on after they closed to light the interior to look in. I recklessly broke, launched Whitey vertical and broke the fixture. Guess, 9' off the floor. High School :)

Maybe two weeks ago in league, the same player got hit twice and almost a 3rd time by the same guy breaking on the table across from them with the cueball. Luckily it was not very hard and not in anything vital like the head.

Another fun thing I have witnessed was a player I was playing on a practice table sending the cueball flying off a break to the table diagonally from us, on which a league game was going on, the ball landed on their table went around 3-4 rails and was finally grabbed by one of the players, did not touch a single ball on their table LOL

I had a junk hit once, with a tennis ball, but in a really silly way. I was walking home as a teen after playing on the high school court and was bouncing a tennis ball as I was walking. It hit an angled part of the sidewalk and rebounded right into the nuts. Even at that not-so-great speed it was enough that I am now very careful when bouncing things and I remember it clear as day over 30 years later LOL

I dont recall ever being hit by a flying ball, but i have been hit by that "CRACK!" shockwave a few times when someone breaks hard and i am near the rack. Its not just a loud sound, it is a damn shockwave/pressure wave that punches your ear drums.

If you ever see me, I NOW plug my ears when opponent cracks em. Been doing this for years.

A strong player we all called Speedy from Jasper, Georgia had that jumping up cue ball break and was known to occasionally hit the lights with the cue ball coming up off the front of the pack when breaking. He was a total ham and did it on purpose. He was a lot of fun to play. He was always talking and entertaining the crowd. I remember playing him in a tournament once, every time I would make a really good shot he would say, "that is how I would have shot it!" So after a while every time he made a really good kick shot or something I would say "that is how I would have shot it."
