No safeties in nine ball

Imagine the amazing shots we would see, if there was no ducking?

OK by me as long as I don't have to play it or watch it.

Those that don't like watching defense can play or watch the ghost. We had a few such tournaments during the pandemic, and I've never been so bored in my life.

I don't see a reliable way of enforcing the rule.

What happens if you get safe by luck? Do you penalize him because you think he did it on purpose?
I play 2 way shots on almost every shot, unless the table has nothing but ducks left on it. Good luck figuring out I did it on purpose. I'd rather my opponent blame luck/bad rolls than think I left them safe on purpose.

Play a ring game with the rule "no safes" for any amount of time and you'll understand why such a rule is all but worthless... impossible to enforce or figure out the shooter's motive. Poker face and stick em, you know full well they will do it to you when convenient. 🤷‍♂️

Which is why the incoming shooter should always have the option, thus forcing those great ’kick’ attempts. Nothing more galling in a ‘no safety‘ ring game, than having the player that hooked you successfully kick/hit, slop something in, and then run out.

I have a foolproof way and have been calling for this game for a long while:

Ball in hand to the other guy if you miss. Pros need to play with all 15 balls.

they are good enough to run out all the way. Not just to 9 or 10.
