Yep. Not knocking the shooter … says he’s an experienced player …. If so he would be able to self diagnose/adjust. It’s very unfair to fault the table. I’d like to see a fine tuned A player or pro evaluate. The OP was asking for the variables…

Off Center hit
Hitting target high

To explain why it is that you may not like the way that Diamond tables play:
Diamond tables require a higher nose height because they use Artemis cushions, installed upside-down. Installing the cushion with the rounded surface facing down creates a lower contact point on the ball, than if the flat side of the cushion were facing down. This creates inconsistency in rebound speed, dependent on the speed at which a ball hits the cushion. This is also why Diamond tables tend to bank short.

I smile when PRO's go SAFE rather than bank sometimes on Diamond tables.

Not only the angle the ball rebounds at but the speed of those cushions is ridiculous. The ball actually gains speed after striking the cushion - like pinball bumpers!
 
CB literally stalled off of the 2nd rail. Needed a little more speed on the hit. Diamonds do not bank like GC's.

Artemis are installed upside down on the blue label?

That has been answered, the 7ft use the Diamond Black.

I seem to remember it being clarified in another thread that the Artemis are not installed upside down on the 8 or 9ft.

Artemis is not installed upside down from the factory.
But, I know two mechs who argue they should be upside down.

Buddy, I don't claim to know something about everything, but I do know pool tables, how they play, how they're built, and cloth, so in MY field of EXPERTISE, I AM an expert, and any advice I DO give, I give with EXPERT knowledge, like it or not, that's the facts!!!

I don't see this "right" english applied to the shot. Cue is barely off center in view because of the camera angle. Even with that pointed out. Checking a CB with inside with such a steep angle generally just skids and has nearly no effect on fresh cloth.

Player does have horrible aim for someone attempting to demonstrate a table banking short. Clearly he hits the rail above the diamond.

Despite the horrible aim, this ball banks well short. Way more than what geometry tells us it should.

I don't care how many times you've saved money with Geico or stayed in a Holiday Inn Expressview. This ball banks incredibly short and I have never witness humidity or ball condition produce such behaviour. However this is the norm on the red label offerings.
 
I hated diamond tables when they first came out, my banking and kicking were way off. Then I discovered a secret. If you hit the shot at the correct speed, the banks are fine, You just can't get away with waaay too slow or too fast, like you can on say a Brunswick. It really shows up on back up banks . Shooting a 2 railer down low on Brunswicks is usually impossible, the ball usually starts creeping back up the table after the second rail, the same shot goes as predicted on a Diamond though. My thoughts on this may have zero to do with reality, but it made it so that I could predict where the ball was going at a much higher rate, which is the goal , correct?
