US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

The Euros are FAR superior to everybody but Shane, and a few are favored over him.

I couldn't give a shit less about predator or mezz, will never play with their cues.

Go to Vegas and play league pool, the US Open isn't a place for you bangers to go have fun, if for great players - now that "everybody" gets a trophy it's filled with 450 Fargo rated players that can't make a ball on a 9' let alone one with 4" pockets.

Nobody wants to watch you or anybody below 700 FR really, play in the US Open - it should be changed to a qualifying tournament to end your and other crybaby nonsense
Anyone else hearing this....
It's exactly what I'm talking about, matchroom making this into favorable conditions mostly for Euro and Asian contingent.... in our own backyard. US Open and 9ball itself is our game!
Why are they changing the parameters of our game in our house!
They can have 10 ball, Chinese 8ball, Snooker....but let's keep 9ball the way its always been pls. It's always been an exciting game!!
My 2 $

write a complaint to MR.

but aren't most games on an american pool table american? isn't 8-ball (euro champion) just as american? what about 14.1 straight pool? (euro champion). those events weren't on 4" pockets.

...and how many of them knew before hand that they'd be having to play on Euro style 4" tight assd pockets??? ....when they're probably assuming that this is at the US Open, the backyard of where 9ball pool originated with bigger pockets and exciting matches, they'd get to play on equipment they're used to.
But NOPE, they get railroaded...
I didn't know. Thought they were going to be 4.25". I don't feel slighted at all.

The only people I heard actually complaining were the very dead money.

Tons of skilled players are commenting and shaking their heads for sure.

Just because the average Joe American players can't hack tough equipment doesn't mean the pros shouldn't be measured by it.

Tons of local rooms across America with buckets you and all those needing an ego boost to play on.

wonder what it would cost to put in the shot clock in form of a ref that says "10 seconds". it's 256 players so probably expensive, but i'm sure it's in the pipeline. player manning a shot clock system is probably a no go. but what about volunteers? give them food and tickets for the final days?

i know most "pro" tournaments are pro-am to a degree, but i suspect that will change. world wide qualifiers for the unseeded 128 spots etc.
That will be bad for keeing the main consumers of the product....players on the improve who get in these tournaments. But that's where it will go. More sterile robotic stroking players that are near impossible to watch.

What did you expect to happen?
USA sold pool's soul to Matchroom.
Don't think Behrman would like this direction as an old school guy.

I would LOVE to hear the general consensus of a vote on this topic.....by EVERYONE included league players and active Pros both. We are ALL part of the same mixing pot and we all contribute to the game.

Who gives a crap what league players have to say about pro player conditions??? You keep digging a bigger hole by the minute. Do you think the PGA should make their courses for championships play like your local $20/per round club? Nevermind, I forgot, trophy for everybody.

God help us

Tell us how this favors players from every other country over Americans?

The Americans won't beat those players on any size pockets PERIOD!

Do you realize how dumb your suggestion sounds? Rhetorical

I agree that the pros should have a voice. Other than that, no one else matters, especially leaguers
Well thanks for that! :P
Perhaps if the active Pros received a "living wage" then we could all get along peacefully.
As it stands, I'm feeling a LOT of animosity towards league players. Kinda hurts my feelings to be honest.

Growing pool.... where? In North America? I don't think so.
I love seeing this growth in major tournaments, prize monies and pool in general as much as anyone, and I'm not even close to being involved at that level anyways....but I can dream. And 4" deep shelved pockets is killing that dream dead. Maybe I need spend the next 15yrs practicing on a snooker table. :p ...by that time I'll be 6' under.
It's growing everywhere to be honest. I don't get to compete all that much, but if I had the time I could play an amateur event every weekend and throw in a few regional/semi-pro events as much as I desired.

I have no issues with you having a differing view about the pocket specs, but you have to have your head in the sand to not see that we could be on the precipice of an actual professional "looking" sport for the first time in my lifetime.

Things are great in the pool world.

Behrman ran 1 tournament per year and on top of that players rarely got paid on time.

I'm sure 95% + of the players are thrilled Matchroom is running things.

APA IS American pool and we all know how much you love league pool 😇

Next year they will be there again. Maybe not the same ones, but league players that enjoy the competition. If I could get some more time off work, I'd play for sure.

There is nothing wrong with league play at all, the US Open is not the place for league rules and pocket/table sizes.

There is a thread about league play that you can read for days.

The reason American players don't do well against pros from all over the world is they don't have discipline period
