From Fedor's FB post:
"Since I moved to the USA in February of last year, I’ve been welcomed with open arms everywhere I’ve been. The people of America have treated me like one of their own, for that reason I’m so excited to represent the red, white, and blue of Team USA at the Mosconi Cup.
I can’t wait to head to London in December and join up with Jeremy and Skyler - let's go USA!

Two topics 🙂
I'll add it here, from matchroom FB:

Fresh off the press:
Full details:

I’ve been welcomed with open arms everywhere I’ve been. The people of America have treated me like one of their own. I have felt this for months, and especially with the support I received at the US Open. I felt like I was truly home.

“For that reason as well as my recent approval for permanent residency, I’m so excited to represent the red, white and blue of USA across WNT events as well as Team USA at the Mosconi Cup. I can’t wait to head to London in December and join up with Jeremy and Skyler – let’s go USA!”

Following confirmation of his qualification, David Alcaide said: “At the start of every season, me and Francisco aim for the Mosconi Cup. With only three players getting in from the rankings, for me and Fran to be the first is an amazing feeling.

“The event is on a different level to everything else. I have never felt pressure like it before in my life. It is a dream for every player to play in the Mosconi Cup.

“30 years of this special tournament promises to be bigger than ever. I hope to see as many Spanish fans in London as possible!”

The Mosconi Cup takes place at Alexandra Palace, London between 6-9 December 2023, live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom & Ireland and DAZN in the United States. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.

Two further players will qualify on the completion of the Hanoi Open Pool Championship; with Captain Picks to follow shortly after.

It features some of the best pool players from both Europe and the United States, and with the addition of Fedor Gorst to the American roster, this year’s event promises to be more excitin g than ever.

There you go! A monumental lift to USA hopes in the Mosconi Cup thanks to a little tweaking of the rules in our favor. Boom, just like that one of the best players in the world just changed sides. Similar to when Johann Ruijsink was moved from captaining the Euro side to our side in the past. Except this time, we just got a massive boost in our player pool. All this due to Fedor recently being granted permanent residency in this country. It's still a long way from becoming a citizen, but it still grants him pretty much the full rights of an American citizen. He can own property in his name but he cannot vote or serve on a jury. I believe he still does not have or travel with a U.S. passport. I may be wrong about that, but my wife has permanent residency here and she still must travel with her Philippine passport.

Whats even more important Fedor declared his long-term goal to become US citizen therefore I am not that surprised by this twist of events ;)

Excellent development. Even if it might be too early technically, he obviously is underway to achieving citizenship. Only a nitpicker will moan about the rules.

obviously i'm a team europe fan but i don't begrudge this, one can really tell that fedor has his heart in america. and there's no doubt he wants to become an american citizen. any interview with the guy makes that very obvious. but what if he doesn't get citizenship?

2024 back in the USA is going to be a huge draw.

Yeah 30 years for the Mosconi is nice but this is better.

So, he is an automatic lock to make it in the team, a lot easier now, every year! Smart move on his part I guess!

Welcome Fedor. Kudos to Matchroom on this controversial, but ultimately logical choice. Fedor is indeed an adopted American and the American fans have cheered him on ever since he moved here.

The winner here is the Mosconi Cup itself, which just got a lot more interesting.

How well is Fedor playing? Two weeks ago, he won bronze at the Michigan Open. Last week, he won silver at the US Open 9-ball, and he just won gold at the Peri 9-ball in Vietnam. Like a sandwich, he's on a roll.
