Game 8

FSR makes the 4 on the break and has a look at the 1, but it's partially blocked to the pocket by the 8 and shape on the 2 will be tricky. He executes the delicate cut perfectly and the table looks wide open. Makes the 2 and asks for the CB to be cleaned, burning an extension (hi JJ!). Simple layout from here, but he overruns the shape on the shot on the 6 by a mile and leaves nothing but a bank on the 7. He elects to play a distance-only safe.

Gorst can see an edge of the rail-frozen 7 from the length of the table. He came up short on the safe and FSR can barely see the 7 in the corner.

FSR overruns shape on the 7, leaving a tough angle for the 8-9 shape. Makes the 8, leaves a tough cut in the side for the 9, which he drains. We're at HILL-HILL!

We’re hill-hill. Ruiz screwed up on the last three balls but managed to get out. 4-4!
 
Gorst misses the seven! Fell short on his position. He wanted to get his extension but realized he had used his one time out, and had to stretch for the shot. The rest is history.

Game 9

Gorst breaks and the 1 drops in the side, but he has only a long thin cut on the 2. He plays a safe but makes the 2-ball full-length bank at pocket speed in the bottom corner - may have been a 2-way attempt, as he's "ok" on the 3. Makes the thin 3 cut into the side and gets good on the 4. Should be out from here. Oops! He comes up short on the 7 ball leave and has a tough cut into the corner, which he undercuts.

FSR should be out from here, and he is.

FSR wins 5-4
 
It’s over! Doomsday for USA. Looks like a three day MC! At least it was a good match between two great players. Bye bye Ms. American pie.!

I can't believe what I'm witnessing. What are the chances USA ends day 2 down only 3-6? Instead of 0-9...
 
Europe have class players and we should know this.

American players are a reflection of their country. Entitled, lazy and weak.
 
Feel bad for Fedor there. Thought he played great; better than FSR. Just didn't quite work out in the short race. If Matchroom doesn't go with Team Europe vs Team Asia next year (ha) we'll see many wins from him in the Mosconi Cup in the coming years.
