Watched it frame by frame. You cut it as much as possible. It would have missed right if it weren’t for a bit of throw. Basically the tangent line was directly straight up into long rail. It was hard enough that there was no chance of draw taking effect before hitting cushion. Hard enough that it stayed on tangent line. So the only thing that had any real effect on rebound was side spin. I think. The angle just seems way too straight for the 2 rail path that actually happened. I wonder if I mostly drew it, and barely spun it, to get the CB to go the way it did.
If you had a choice, it would’ve been better not to of left this particular angle on the 7 ball. Leaving the cue ball either much closer to the long rail on the top of the screen or considerably closer to the short rail near the 7 ball would have left you angles that would’ve made positioning options for the 8 ball much easier.View attachment 735128
I had this shot on my ghost set this morning. How would you get from the 7 to the 8? It's fairly straight.
With the measles ball I'd cue it with one tip outside low 9 o'clock, making sure I drive the cue ball to the long rail (forcing the angle) drawing towards you, cue ball pretty much striking anywhere below the other long rail side pocket.View attachment 735128

You want to come off the side rail first and then across the table to other side rail, below side pocket? With the measles ball I'd cue it with one tip outside low 9 o'clock, making sure I drive the cue ball to the long rail (forcing the angle), pretty much striking anywhere below the other long rail side pocket.
Getting on this side of the 8 has a huge shape area, and the excessive cue ball speed/SPINNING when striking the 7 FAT will deaden it's forward speed coming off the long rail to the foot rail.
Key to this shot is using cue ball speed to hit the 7 fat to force the cut.
Also if you hit it too hard but hit it just below the side pocket, it could easily come two rails up and out and allow you to be above the 9 for the cut shot.
I bothced my position on the prior shot by 2 feet. I was playing the cb to the long rail the 7 was on.If you had a choice, it would’ve been better not to of left this particular angle on the 7 ball. It looks to me like the draw took after the cushion. Doesn't the ball curve some between the first and second rails? This is how it played out. I was not going for how it happened, and didn't even see that shot possibility. I'm not even sure how it went the way it did. ...
