Jayson Shaw First Contracted Pro on WNT

oh man, that’s funny as hell. Did she ask for your email? How much time did you spend on the photoshop?

“The Flailing Dutchman” 😂 😂

Hope she didn’t try to look you up on Fargo like I did.
Took 15 min approximately? Removing the player's info was the hardest. Quiz: whos body is it?

I don't think that's my Fargo rating. I don't think I ever participated in a Fargo rated event, unless some 2017 matches in the Netherlands were put in. Nonetheless my Fargo is probably shitty. I wouldn't know how to estimate.

Simple! Do what most people do!

I beat a guy 10 years ago who I think is like 700 on his best day today, so I'm probably 899.

Ideally I hope the WPA does the women right and puts them on salaried work.

WPA associations need a pro-women group in their countries and they need WPBA. The presence of the WPBA is one choice, or they can choose a more Russian or China friendly association. It is up to the WPA.

Everyone here can provide testimony those are the best women to represent the world in each region.

Can Ishaun sell it as a 5 year guaranteed prize payouts because that is how long the men are banned for? The WPBA pros should get free expenses for heyball attendance and whatever else they want to negotiate for. Make sure they have a open ceremony and closing ceremony parties with full catering at a nice place where the chef greets them. Its a promotion of women in any country.

Most government programs will not commit more than past construction.

The knbb regional tournaments get submitted to fargo, but not the regional division, no idea if national competition is.

Fun question. What will be the first event to get players suspended by the WPA? The deadline is March 1st. While we've been eyeing the WPM or UK Open, wouldn't it be a disgrace to Mark Griffin's legacy if this was the first shot fired?

I don't see it on the WPA calendar so I'm assuming it's unsanctioned. If it's viewed as a single tournament, then this is a category 4 and requires sanctioning. But if each discipline is treated as a separate tournament then they are category 5 and don't require sanctioning, that is, unless 8 or more international competitors participate in which the WPA requires sanctioning.

That said, I'm assuming in-practice that many category 5 events with 8+ international participants fly under the radar and this would too. But it's fun to speculate given it's such a high profile event and likely to get a decent field intentionally carried over from the WPA 10-ball.

Ive played regional division, 3 divisions below the (semi)pro division. We drank beer and won and lost some here and there somewhere until 2017 or smt. I can't imagine anything being submitted to fargo.
Edit: Just watched DrDaves video on rating and I'd estimate myself 400-500 fargo. 800 on good days.

As an aside, why is Matchroom releasing the contract signings one player at a time, stretching it out? Just curious.

I have a couple of guesses. Marketing first and foremost. Dripping this out keeps them at the top of the Facebook feed and I expect that will lead into promotion of whatever tournament is up next.

Second, I can’t imagine it hasn’t crossed their minds that this is also sort of a not so subtle retort to the WPA. Sort of like “Here is a list of players you will need to ban. We will go slow so you don’t miss anyone”.

I think MR did a great job from a PR standpoint of dripping the releases, and also not really stating what they even mean. Yes, it was a bit frustrating. What it resulted in was tons of chatter by the fans, and even some of the pros.

Top 16 signed.

There was a method in the madness.

Maybe the rest will come faster.

Don't really see the need to sign up all 128 players. Most are deadwood and probably won't compete at all stops.

Also. The driftwood will most likely be able to slip the net of the mighty WPA and still compete on both MR and WPA events.

However. Without deadwood, how does a pro tour survive?

So as you wrote. Maybe the rest will now follow... Like sheep.

Probably for the first time in their lives. The field majority now have something to contemplate and really take their careers seriously!

The journey man, now has to choose their route...

in an european or asian context they're not always dead money, and upset runs happen every now and then. soufi, bijsterbosch, etc. might have a number 128 on that list that's a youngster on the rise, or a filipino cash warrior getting his feet wet in big time tournaments

gonna be easy pickings for wojciech szewcyk 😉

Well this is the thing.

Will players choose to play where they can win and afford themselves a living income. Or not?

Personally. I'd start at the bottom and work my way up!

MR, at this point aren't saying that players playing in WPA events are unwelcome on their tour.

So easy answer is to:
- continue with WPA events
- make decent money
- save earnings
- thank WPA and wave goodbye

STEP UP
- compete in MR events

Hopefully good enough to compete with the best..?

Matchroom doesn't use the Dead Money Funding model. They have broadcast contracts and viewers. Sometimes tens of millions of viewers and occasionally hundreds of millions for some events.

Look at all the invitational events they run. The Mosconi Cup had a prize fund of $370,000 (including bonuses) and zero entry fees. To set up the venue in London might have cost more than that. Example cost: there were around 60 people working security and crowd control for four days.

I agree that the satellite events, which have no real broadcast revenue, depend on the also-rans to make up a large part of the prize fund.

I wasn't looking at running costs of the tour. More so, looking at the competitive field of the tour.

People will soon get bored of a tour that only has low numbers of participants.

The invitationals are based on ranking positions. Ranking positions are based on number of runners.

For the MR tour to be successful in the long-term, they must have the numbers in order to host 'Open' events.

Personally, I don't think they will struggle and the MR tour will prove to be the most successful 9 ball tour in history.
