So according to this
https://matchroompool.com/news/ruiz...-championship-in-saudi-arabia-for-first-time/ top 100 in WNT ranking will qualify for this WPC. 10 will be Saudi wildcards and 18 will be wildcards chosen by Matchroom. Commentator Michael McMullan mentioned that the 18 wildcards already chosen so my guess is may be veterans (Earl, Efren ??) , popular players far down ranking (Orcollo? ), other disciplines like snooker stars who are very popular in Saudi? :ROFLMAO:

I think top 100 WNT ranking is referring to this list https://matchroompool.com/wp-content/uploads/WNT-Rankings-.xlsx-Ranking-Master-11.pdf and not this WNT Pro ranking https://matchroompool.com/wp-content/uploads/WNT-Rankings-.xlsx-128-Pros-list-3.pdf

Wow, last 8 get $27K which is about same as $30K for winner of recent major UK Open. (y)
$2K for highest B&R prize is a nice touch

Game changer.

Glad to see everyone got over the idea of Saudis sports washing. They are much needed and people will watch this event.

So whoever wins this tournament is essentially a lock for the Mosconi/Reyes Cup assuming they're in one of the correct demographics, right?

I wonder what time the matches will be scheduled for. They are 7 hours ahead of EDT. So a noon match there would be 5AM for me. Hopefully they schedule deep into the evening there so we can see more of the action without having a rooster in the house.

yes. it skews the rankings tremendously. even runner up is a lock. better not be sick that week!

I hope the stands are packed, and it's not another 10 years of Doha. Even if the prize is 1MM for first, a Doha level of attendance would be a big setback, IMO. I will wait and see.

What food options are available to players in Saudi?

If Filler starts eating McDonalds in Saudi then WTF. SVB fishing near Saudi waters could be good.

No pool player is a chef that is a problem. Billiard athletes need proper nutrition.

If I were to go the food has to be worth it. If its like Atlantic City or Virginia then Saudi wont be worth it food wise.

I can live with that if I don’t have to watch on matchroom live since I can just put on the replays. But matchroom live doesn’t ever provide those replays.

they're retarded. some say their foray into sports will help them out of their medieval cognitive situation but i'm doubtful. happy for pro pool players to get their pay raise though.
I see it differently, I just see hypocrisy.

Just several weeks ago there was a thread on here lauding MR for their “assigning” Pia Filler as the 128th player on the MR WNT and “what a champion for women’s rights” MR was for doing so.

Meanwhile on the other side of the fence MR is lining their pockets by cutting this deal with the Muslim Saudi’s, perhaps the most misogynistic culture on the face of the earth and taking their filthy PIF money. Is this the act of an organization that “champions women’s rights”? Is this hypocrisy not evident?

In the aforementioned thread, anyone who had the temerity to question the adding a woman to this tour, or point out that there are 24-25 women players that are higher ranked than Pia, have payed their dues and deserved that spot more were instantly decried as a backwards misogynists. These same members here tossing those labels at others are silent on MR riding both sides of the fence in their deal with the Saudis. So it appears the desperation for a pro pool tour can clearly get members here to join in that hypocrisy as well.

In reality, there isn't nearly as much drama as you think there is. All of these decisions have money as the primary motivator...plain and simple. That goes for the Pia decision as well. You can view it as "hypocrisy". I simply see capitalism.
