WPA Bans 245 Players

Right. And the main reason is it’s a boring ass game which basically has 1 tournament per year (when held) of the World Championships.
The bulk of US pool is barbox league 8b. Without it there would be next to no pool in the US. Not a huge fan, although its damn tough to play correctly, but its the core game of US pool. Go find a really good 8b player and play some for $20-30 a game. You'll find out pretty quick how you stand. Tuff on a bb with the congestion.

I love playing barbox pool (including 8 ball), but pros playing 8 ball on a 9 footer is not a watchable game for me (nor is heyball). I would much rather watch the ultimate pool version of barbox 8 ball.

and by the way,
don’t criticize ’heyball’
unless you’ve played it

1. when did you last play heyball?

2. check WPA's website. its schedule is mainly heyball. are you fine with WPA moving away from games on an american pool table (as it was setup to govern) to a novelty game played on a 9ft snooker table?

I agree on the pro deal. I was just saying that 8b is THE core game of almost pool in the US. More am's/leagues/bangers play 8b than any other game.

Agreed. As long as we omit "call shot call safe" 10-ball, the game of 8-ball on the big tables is the worst game to watch for the fan. Why a game so rarely contested at the pro level needs a world championship is beyond me.

i have a C8 ball/ heyball
table in my neighborhood
about ten minutes away

but i see your point they
just aren’t in the usa

yet? who knows?

my point is watching and
talking is nothing like doing
at all

Yup, in the internet age, WPA sure can boast a lot of "banned width."

For Fatboy everything in nutshell :D
Thank you very much

I’m not confused anymore about the ban,

I’m now confused at how these people are actually recognized and have any authority over anything.

This is the dumbest shit I’ve seen in a very long time.

Thank you very much!

It’s a tactical game.

The problem with 8B is there are too many rules/ express 8B is kinda fun as well. But I like the more tactical version. Barbox 8B is trash
I watched Ronnie Wiseman make 5 low balls on the break years ago….which increases his chances of being hooked on low balls….
…..and he was….ran out on high balls…..why should an excellent break make a player a huge underdog?

I made three on the break at nine ball and left a good look at the one-nine combo for the win. Problem was that I was wedged between two balls on the top rail and didn't even have a possible kick to move either the one or the nine. Any pushout would have either left me snookered or left opponent the one-nine combo. I hit a good break, but it cost me the rack. Yes, it's a rare scenario. Making even three balls of one set on the break in eight ball is super-rare, too, but whether you are playing 8ball or 9ball, a good break can cost you the rack. The reality is that each of these scenarios is very rare and they hardly merit shunning either game.

Appleton's World Pool Series (circa 2017) had 8-ball with take what you make and, at least for me, it made the game far more interesting because the runouts required more skill.

WPA is a total disaster for the game. The expression «to overplay ones hand« comes to mind when looking at this latest move. Thet will have to reverse this, or they’ll lose absolutely everything., which IMO is almost inevitable anyway, but the timetable certainly has been accelerated by this boneheaded move.

All this proves two things: 1: Wpa has no idea what they are doing. Banning that many top players is foolish. 2 They really don’t like the Nguyen family. Man oh man they banned all them Nguyen boys.

When will a Nguyen ever win???

If I was in PR for a competing company and lacked ethics, I would frame this as a racist ban against Asian players. I mean, it's not all Asian players but it could sure be spun to look that way.

I was there playing. It was great setup. Take that and 4 inch pocket Diamonds. That I would watch.
