This looks like a fun time. Explicitly NOT WPA sanctioned.

Format:
3 disciplines, 8, 9, 10 ball. The current world champ of each discipline will receive a bye into the finals. The other two will play a match to determine who will meet him in the finals. Then the finals are played. Repeat for each of the 3 disciplines. The two best players will then face off in a grand final. The top seed will choose the game for the Grand Final. 30k USD total purse.

I counted 7 total matches, spread across 5 total days! Yikes, I guess just 2-3 or so hrs of play each day.

8 ball 2
9 ball 2
10 ball 2
grand final 1

(each match may be multiple short sets, depending on the game).

Edit, there has got to be a typo somewhere! 4 days make some sense, 5 makes none. Even 2 days makes sense. Do 8 and 9 ball on day 1. 10 ball and the grand final on day 2. I have no idea how 4 "sessions" could even be spread across 5 days.

Like Derby, multiple events going on at once. The 10 Ball Open overlaps these dates for one.

Love this. The Reyes Cup is reminding us that pro pool without Gorst and Filler is much less exciting to watch. Without the two best players in the game, no event feels truly elite.

All the credit to Predator for staging this exciting event, which will end three days before the International begins in Florida. I see it as a bit of a rematch of the Derby City Classic, in which Gorst was Master of the Table in 2023, but Filler was the Master of the Table in 2024.

I am not taking the superb Biado lightly here, but this is the year in which the Gorst/Filler rivalry came to fullest fruition. In two of the best matches of the entire pool year, a) at the Derby City 10-ball, Filler beat Gorst double hill and b) at the World Pool Masters, Gorst beat Filler double hill. This, to me, seems to be a rivalry for the ages.

Let the games begin!

I'm very happy for the players that this event, featuring three players who look like future BCA Hall of Famers, has been placed in close proximity to the schedule of the International and the Mosconi Cup, but it doesn't really work for me as a fan.

Under different circumstance, I might have found a way to attend the event, but I'm heading to Florida on Nov 17 for the International and by the time the Mosconi Cup is over, I'll have spent 18 days away from New York. To attend this event, as well, I'd have to add seven days to my time on the road, and 25 days away from home is a little more than this old man can handle.

Does the event really even count if SJM isn’t in the stands?!

😂🤩😝🤪

In the fine print I see Non WPA sanctioned. I wonder why they felt the need to include that in there.

The doubles part of this event started today, some good matches:

Not one person in the audience! WOW, traditional ball colors, an orange five ball!! Nice to see opportunities like this for the players. Looks like the're having fun. Decent commentary by this one guy. Only so so camera work. Pretty obvious that whoever is controlling the cameras is not a pool player.

Am I missing something?

The Biado-Filler match has gone to a shoot-out after 2 sets.

It would be quicker to do a lag and then do 1 rack to decide the winner.

Shoot-outs take a long time with good players.
