Anyone know if home court/table/room was an advantage to either player?
I was flying all day yesterday and forgot about the match. I’m haven’t got far enough to see who won. I didn’t confirm my offer earlierI’ll take Mickey for $100 if the other guy doesn’t want it. Zelle or PayPal after match
Well I suppose anywhere in the USA would be home court for MikeAnyone know if home court/table/room was an advantage to either player?
We agreed to play magic rack, one on the spot and no soft breaking. The WNT format favors the a defensive player IMO And is not a format I am interested in. Personally, I wanted to play 10 ball but that seems to be a game of the past.I'm wondering whether they are racking the one on the spot. For pretty much all of Dechaine's career, the one was racked on the spot, and it seems unlikely he agreed to anything else.
My home court is TJ’s Classic Billiards in Waterville, ME. About an hour north from where we played.Anyone know if home court/table/room was an advantage to either player?

Questioning this..... for spelling.
I'm not a keyboard spell ck warrior, but those are different.
One ball on the spot... good info, Mike played his best yrs with that set up.
Would think Mike has been there/played there before, who picked the table in that room?
How did you guys articulate an agreement not to soft break? I assume it wasn't the 3-point-rule or else you'd have said that. Was more of a gentleman's agreement like "no Corey Deuel baby breaks ala 2000s" or was it more like "no babying the 1 ball up table to the corner pocket ala 2020s" or was it more like "let's agree to just whack it ala WNT".We agreed to play magic rack, one on the spot and no soft breaking. The WNT format favors the a defensive player IMO And is not a format I am interested in. Personally, I wanted to play 10 ball but that seems to be a game of the past.
Mike- you are an elite player. It would be great if you returned to play full time. I wish 10 ball was played more often, but as you said, it seems to be fading away.We agreed to play magic rack, one on the spot and no soft breaking. You made the correct choice.Yes, the comeback was short lived. It was tough to walk away from a job that offers great pay, vacations, health insurance, 401k, etc. I also struggled with the new WNT break format. All in all, 9 ball is a much different game now from when I was competing. I hope Matchroom continues their success and the sport grows. If I am able to see a great return on investment, I will screw the cues back together and commit 100% towards it!

You played a hell of a match. Well done!We agreed to play magic rack, one on the spot and no soft breaking. The WNT format favors the a defensive player IMO And is not a format I am interested in. Personally, I wanted to play 10 ball but that seems to be a game of the past.
Interesting observation from an elite player with a foot in the past and present - that the WNT format favors a more defensive approach. We agreed to play magic rack, one on the spot and no soft breaking. I believe that is just the caliper of player! The new generation of players are incredible shot makers. But I am not seeing as many packages put together as I once did. Of course, you have Fedor and Filler who are just on a different level, but their break has to be working for them to get it done. When I watched the Derby, I wondered if Filler would have been as dominate as he was if the corner ball wasn’t going in.Interesting observation from an elite player with a foot in the past and present - that the WNT format favors a more defensive approach.
I do think tighter pockets and the break rule curb offensive tendencies compared to the past. Players do have to be better at safeties and jumping.
Yet the modern 9-ball game still seems plenty offensive to me. Chua, Capito and Krause, among recent MR Open winners, were very aggressive. I think there is still room for that ...
It's almost as if 9 ball was not broken back then after all...Well done, Mike! Something of a time capsule match for 9ball fans with one on the spot and break from anywhere in the kitchen. It made for some exciting pool.
Way to give em hell yet again Mike! Im guessing your keeping your job has been worth it 100%. I'm more a fan now than ever, I do love rooting on working Joe's against the pros. I hope it won't offend you if I clock you as the best of that classI believe that is just the caliper of player! The new generation of players are incredible shot makers.
