European Open 2025, Sarajevo, March 11-16

I love how Joshua addresses the table before each shot, just like snooker players. Perfect fundamentals. He's on the hill, 9-4.

Winner, winner, Joshua wins.

Do you know Emily Frazer? That is interesting to learn how she feels. That is good.
I do not. But I have seen virtually every interview she has given the past two years. She is pretty open most of the time about what she wants.

She has talked endlessly about creating drama, getting fans loud and involved, and showing off the characters and personalities in pool.

Earlier this week, when commentating on a match, she said she doesn’t care who wins the matches as long as they are all hill-hill.

some stats there.. filler rack record so far 50 won, 7 lost 😳
Make that 60 won 11 lost. Nobody has tested Josh yet, but I feel that Szewczyk is in great form and will offer a very stiff test in the quarterfinal.

It seems like the only people in the audience are the players themselves. Were there tickets sold for public viewing, or was it a closed European Open to the public?

Last match of the round, Tobias Bonges defeated Francisco Sanchez Ruiz. 10-8. He's so happy to beat a strong player like FSR. The match before this, Karl Boyes said he let out a howl. I thought his arm flexing was cute.

In the post-match interview, I was surprised to learn that Karl Boyes speaks fluent German. But they did speak English.

Tobia Bongers over FSR. When you've beaten two world 9ball champs (FSR, Biado) in one event, you can hold your head up high. Under the radar no longer!

Quarterfinals have some surprise matchups but World 10ball Champ Szewczyk vs World 9ball champ Filler is the one that jumps off the page.

Good luck to the eight fine players who remain.

Bongers is a good player and his game is still growing. I’ve seen him a fair amount in the last year.

However, FSR and Biado played way below par. B-minus games with lots of mistakes and they still almost won. Bongers missed a darn near straight-in 9 ball to almost hand it to FSR.

Yongers also had Bongers down big and let him off the hook.

You need lots of luck in tournaments like this. Bongers has gotten it.

when anyone can win over 80% of their matches in any tournament it means the game is not set up right.
needs some changes so certain specific qualities dont effect the outcome so much or perhaps matches should be shorter.

few matches are exciting when they are a cakewalk.
