US Open 08/18-23

Not quite in the flow of this thread but has anybody noticed that many players in this Open are using wood shafts rather than carbon?

Greetings again from Atlantic City.

Enjoyed the semis and looking forward to the final with two world beaters. If Yapp can win a third straight WNT major, it will be a monumental achievement and it will put an end to all Player of the Year discussion for 2025. Fedor playing in his third straight US Open 9ball final. Wow, that is just magnificent. I will be rooting hard for Fedor.

Pretty hard to pick a winner here.

GO FEDOR !!!

Rack 1:

1 ball goes down. 2 is not on offensively. Yapp plays a bad safe, and Fedor sinks the 2 while opening up the only trouble on the table. Tic tac toe runout gets a little funny on the 5/6/7, but he makes a standard bank on the 7 with perfect shape on the 8.

Gorst up 1-0

Rack 2:

1 and 4 go down, but can't see the 2. Fedor pulls the jump cue on a steep cut and nails it. 6 gets in the way of the 3 so he splits it up and down the table.

Yapp makes a good hit, but leaves the 3 in the open. Position to the 5 is to a bank shot, which Fedor doesn't like so he chips the 5 up table for another safety.

Yapp hits the backside of the 5 and the cueball goes straight into the corner. Fedor plays a bit of a bad cueball to get elevated over the 9 while shooting the 7...buries it...but badly misses the 8! Easy 2 ball out for Yapp.

Tied at 1-1
