Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

He was already a BCA Hall of Fame lock, but a third WPA sanctioned world championship puts Albin in rarefied air. Of male players still active, SVB, Filler, Gorst, Kaci, Feijen, Souquet, and both Ko brothers have two. Only Strickland, Hohmann, and now Albin have more than two.

Well done!
Biado also has 3 world championships

I was able to watch it here in the Philippines (on vacation now) on a Vietnamese TV station. Pretty much unwatchable for me. Went back to the Hanoi Open and that tough Rasson table. They were playing some pool there.

I always used to see that pool players would play on the floor if there was enough money involved. This one was close.
You forgot to end with "Thank you Miss Emily, please give me a chance to ref a major tournament, it's was always my dream." 😆

Sorry, I dogged that one. I'll correct my post. As you can guess, I did it off the top of my head rather than actually researching it. Maybe I missed something else, too.

Alex Kazakis gets respect here, too. Winning a silver medal at both the 2025 world 10-ball and the 2025 World 8-ball is very impressive.

Alex Kazakis is often overlooked as one of the greats in today's game, but serious kudos to him for reaching back-to-back world championship finals in 2025. His game isn't flashy, and he employs a methodical style of play, but it clearly works for him. He may go down as one of the best players to have never won a "world" title (excluding the World Pool Masters, since that's an invitation). Reminds me a bit of Kuo Po Cheng.

2025 World 8 Ball Championship: 2nd
2025 World 10 Ball Championship: 2nd
2022 World 9 Ball Championship: 3rd (lost to Shane Van Boening in the semis, who ended up winning the title)
2022 World 8 Ball Championship: 9th
2018 World 9 Ball Championship: 3rd (lost hill-hill to Joshua Filler in the semis, who ended up winning the title)
2016 World 9 Ball Championship: 5th

Well said. Jayson Shaw is another example of a brilliant player that has not won a WPA sanctioned world championship in 8-ball, 9-ball or 10-ball. It would make me happy if both Alex and Jayson won one of these. If memory serves, Bustamante was 46 when he won his first WPA sanctioned world championship and SVB was 39, so Alex and Jayson still have plenty of chances left.

PS I added Biado to those having more than two after Skor corrected me.

I think Appleton likely has most World titles (this millennium)
WPA World 9B
WPA World 10B
WPA World Heyball
World Games

WPA World Team
World Cup of Pool
(Excluded World Pool Masters as that is invitational)

Ironically, Appleton has never won a World in English 8 ball the discipline he started out

Filler just has to win another individual W9B or W8B or W10 to surpass Appleton as he has already won W9B, W8B, WG, World Team, WCOP.
I am not betting man but I will bet $1 that he will surpass Appleton in next 3 years
