Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

What exactly is "the objective?" If Emily wants folks to believe they (MR) have zero control over the running of their own event, she'd have better odds pi$$ing up a tree IMO.
NASCAR racing is run the same way. Most of the racing is legit but the number of times 'yellow flags' are thrown at just the right time to spice it up is just too hard to take. This whole thing just has a 'semi scripted' feel to it. Fun to watch but that's about it for me. When its over they all go back to playing real pool. Its pool's version of the NFL Pro Bowl.

That’s been said every year. American fans are too polite. Or maybe they’re too embarrassed or composed to show their asses as much as the Brit fans. Bottom line, not exactly sure why but
American fans just aren’t as loud and obnoxious.
Brit fans behave just fine towards the Americans when the Ryder Cup is held over there or at the British Open. For some reason in this sport and particularly in this event, they seem to think it’s allowed and even encouraged, until Matchroom and the refs crack down on it, which would be very easy to do if they wanted to.

You've made my point perfectly. This isn't real pool. Call this dog-n-pony show anything you want but real competition. Been that way for yrs. Its exactly what MR wants. It reminds me of pro wrestling, some people believe that shit's on the square. Please.
It is exactly that.

Anybody who can't see that is the same type of person who gets so riled up when their favorite sports team loses that they are upset all day and in a bad mood. We have a couple guys like that at work. They look and act like they are physically sick.

They mope around saying, "We lost...blah, blah, blah...." and I ask them "who is we?...you aren't on the team, you weren't playing, you were sitting on your couch in Hawaii in your boxer shorts...settle down, Beavis."

I watch for what it is...entertainment or something to do at the time. I hope to see good playing from all the players, but I don't care who wins.

Have wanted to go to the Mosconi Cup for 20 years, and finally I had the chance. Only went one day though, but it was awesome, and will definitely go back another time. (But hopefully they will find another venue than Ally Pally, which is far away from everything)

The atmosphere and noice is NOTHING when watching on tv compared to feeling and experiencing it inside the arena.

I was blown away of how loud and tense it was.

Hats off to the players who manage to make balls in that setting. You can see they are very nervous and feeling the pressure on every single shot.

All in all a great experience, but it was definitely poor sportsmanship from the crowd on the 9-ball the seconds before Tyler missed against Moritz.

On all other shots the crowd quieted down, but I think it just got out of control on this 9.
I see people blame the ref, but he actually tried a few times to calm down on that show but with no luck.

I guess it would not have happened with any other players, but when the crowd saw the awkward position on the nine everyone felt that this was another miss coming from Tyler.

It was not an option for the ref to reset clock, stop Tyler and ask the audience to be quiet, and then let him shoot. Had he missed then everyone would definitely have blamed the ref.

Just poor sportsmanship from the crowd - on that particular shot. Otherwise I felt it was all good.

The level of play has been great, and the score could and should have been closer. Three matches ended 5-4 to Europe, after USA missed. So instead of 8-3 Europe it could have been 5-6 USA.

I am all Europe, but I really wish USA will win next year.

The Mosconi Cup is great, but if Europe keeps winning every year people will lose interest
100% agree with your assessment. Nice post.

I don't know about you but all that "blue two ball, red three ball, green six ball and brown seven ball" got old on day one. Shame on whoever introduced that into the pool vernacular. Yes, I'm looking at you know who.
I mentioned this yesterday. I've heard JJ on more than one occasion even refer to the color of the 8 ball.
Someone must have told him not to just call out the colors of the balls they monkeyed with because it points out their stupidity for using that dumb ball set.
His answer is to call out every color every rack. It's dumb.

The best way to quiet the crowd is to start winning. They've had a few bad rolls, but not really any worse than their opponents. It's the misses that have killed them. Stop missing and the crowd will go silent.

this precedes the aramith black ball set by many years. for casual viewers 9-ball, or rotation pool, is not obvious. it's just 9 skittles on a pool table to them. both the ball runner in the graphic and the commentary work to help new viewers. it's not for you or me, it's for growing the viewership and interest

Actually what some of our more well balanced or even cynical members have been saying is starting to sink in. We should not care so much about this event. Just sit back and enjoy the spectacle!!

From this day until my last day I no longer care about the actual outcome of the Mosconi Cup and I no longer care about the Pittsburgh Steelers. I am taking their advice and no longer having any passion or concern for the outcome of any sporting event.

Bring on the midget mud wrestling and slap contests. Let the shit show begin!!!

It’s actually a relief. I want to see the crowd get so loud and obnoxious now. Maybe Tyler will actually faint from the pressure. It would be so entertaining to see the paramedics try to resuscitate him on the PPV.

All I can say is Emily Fraser and MR are truly amazing visionary’s for the sport. And I guess because they invested a few dollars into the sport they are free to do what ever they want.

Hopefully Tyler and his entire family see all the memes and comments about how bad he dogged it. Someone should scrape book it and send to his mother. They can sit around the fire place during holidays and laugh and point at Tyler in front of his wife and children.

Can’t believe he missed that nine ball. I guess he doesn’t level up and can’t handle the noise as well as team Euro can.

But it doesn’t matter any longer because I removed my tin foil hat and no longer give a shit about sports.

We ALL would much prefer the cacophony to the sudden a-hole in our swing. We were pretty brutal on the Euros last year. Tyler has deserved the treatment and he knows it. He shot into the crowd willingly. Not sure why everyone here is having a fit about it.
I have never seen a hill-hill 9ball being shot in the cup with the fans doing everything they can to shark the shooter and the ref do absolutely nothing.
Never.
I'm not saying Tyler missed for one reason or another.
I am saying the behavior of the fans and the ref was appalling.
That ref should no longer be working the cup.
Supporting unsportsmanlike behavior is BS.

That's the attitude to have! I like for my favorite teams to win, but I don't work my schedule around to make sure I can watch them. I don't spend money going to any professional sporting events. Nothing changes in most of our lives if our teams win or lose. You still have to get up and go to work in the morning. Nothing worth losing sleep over, or having a breakdown about it.

Tyler is a big boy. He's gonna be alright. And if I was his brother, I would give him shit at every family gathering.
Steelers, try being a Vikings fan🤣
Tyler may have missed a few 9 balls but, he's no Gary Anderson.

Let me clarify my position. Obviously I root for the U.S. team. That being said, if they lose, and it's a spirited but respectful competition, I have zero issue with that outcome. Yes, winning and losing matter, but more importantly for me, is how you play the game.
I would also point out that while Styer did miss that nine ball, for most of that match, he outplayed Moritz IMO. He was up 4-2 at one point, I believe. Hopefully he's not listening to anyone who believes that he doesn't have some ability. He definitely needs to get on with cleaning up the unforced errors, and practice with a purpose. If he can exercise his particular demons, he's more than capable of competing at a very high level IMO. He just needs to figure out how to believe that...

Not a popular position to have my dude. Emily explained it’s impossible to do even minimal crowd control any longer. It’s too hard for the Refs. Plus it doesn’t fit the objective.
LOL... Again complete horseshit. Stop the match, kick out the offenders and it will stop. No one else will want to get kicked out. That's a bullshit excuse to make for poor reffing.
