1000 Fargo

Bergman is a non factor. He doesnt leave home. Guy dont even play Derby. Pure waste of talent.

Jesus is da bomb...but unless matchroom changes their rules, he isn't a citizen.
Did you forget that Fedor isn't a citizen either? Jesus' home country of Venezuela is also war stricken and in political strife, as was Fedor's home country. They should extend special treatment for everyone, not just the best player in the world. Fair is fair.

Agreed with Bergman. Someone could finance the world's biggest tournament with $1,000,000 for 1st place in St. Louis and Bergman probably still wouldn't show up lol.

Hopefully that changes. I don't mind him not playing at Derby, because it wouldn't earn him any ranking points towards Mosconi Cup.

Agree. Bergam made a big hurrah that he'd play the tour this year, and didn't even show up to DCC.
Actually, that was Scott Frost that made a big hurrah that Bergman would play the tour this year. He said he speaks to Bergman on the phone regularly and they are close.

I've never heard Bergman's own personal thoughts on the matter. Unless there's some FB post he made or interview on Youtube that I didn't see.

If Bergman has Mosconi aspirations, which is not verified, I mind it.

If he were serious about returning to his 9ball form of a decade ago, Derby City, played only about 250 miles from his hometown of St Louis, was the logical starting point. It has nothing to do with WNT ranking points as he will not contend for an automatic berth on Team USA. I respect his decision but, unless the fix is in, and the Team USA captain plans to offer him a spot that he has not earned, he needs to get busy competing at 9ball.

If we are going to go with a part time player, Meglino (9th at the WNT Florida Open and 3rd at the Derby City 9ball) has a resume that is leaps and bounds above Bergman at 9ball.

Hard to argue with that sir. Frost picking Bergman just because they're buddies would leave a bad taste in my mouth, just like Skyler picking Billy. But at least Billy earned some points to get himself in the conversation.

At this point in time, I would also like Meglino over Bergman. He just needs to pick the pace up a little and start playing with a shot clock.

And to whoever suggested Hennessey, please god no. I'd rather stab my eyes out than watch that guy play. His own peers publicly refuse to gamble with him due to his antics.

Since this is looking like it's turning into another Mosconi cup thread.... my updated picks, half joking, half serious:

Coach: Parica (I believe he's been an American citizen for 30 years?)

Shane
Thorston (now an American citizen)
Oscar
Lucas
Hayden

If Frost really becomes captain, and picks Bergman for the hell of it, he should get fired on the spot. Now, if Bergman competes at every stop and does really well, but just misses the automatic picks, I'd be fine with Frost picking him. But if he stays home all season like he has the past 10 years and Frost picks him, the first sentence stands.

Good point. Wasn't he also the one that made a bs farewell tour for Efren, 5 years in a row? hahah I may be mistaken and it was someone else.

Thats me
Henny is a killer...
He runs over Styer in anything on a pool table.

Pool shouldn't be a popularity contest...that is what cost us Dechaine....who would be a top 10 player on earth if he was playing all these years.

I would rather read about Henny beating someone rather than watching it for myself. I can't put myself through that torture.
I do agree that Henny would beat Styer for the cash though. You completely disregarded what I said about my disdain for his antics in particular, not his skill level or ability. This is not about being popular vs. unpopular. Also, if he didn't take a million years to shoot, he would probably be more popular.

He was flyin at derby....man has more than one gear

It's a given that someone will be 1000. There is rate creep inherent in it. Filler, Shane, Fedor, etc, aren't playing better than they did when they were barely in the 800's. It has to do with more higher rated players that they're playing against.

We need a prop bet, when will Fargo creep up to 1000 and who will be the first one.

An a side note to this, many games do what is called a "Stat Squish", basically as the players go up in levels/skills, they add in higher level items till the numbers get silly, damage what used to be in the 100s at the game launch is now in the hundreds of thousands or even millions. So every so often they reset and everything drops across the board. An item that had a 500 level stat is down to 100.

It took maybe 4-5 years for Fargo to go from no or one 800 to now. I think I remember when there was a single 800 in the system, SVB. In about 10 years we should be seeing the top pros be at the 1000 range, and they may want to just do a global % dump of 25% to get everyone back in line.

We're talking about making USA Team Mosconi cup only, you don't have to win a title, finishing high and get as may points as possible will do, I like Styler chance this year.

There are not thousands of players with very very very solid pool fundamentals :cautious: may be solid and very solid, not very very very solid :ROFLMAO:
He’s one of those guys with a 10 cent head that finds a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory every time. In an earlier post you state you feel his mental game will improve with age. I think he has better chance of throwing a snowball and hitting the sun than ever overcoming all that dog he has in him.

Come on now don't be so negative about one of your top 10 players in the USA , the guy won 2018 and 2019 Mosconi cup on his FIRST 2 times, and has been trying his best on everything he does. Name a guy you think more deserve than Styer and why, let me hear that, don't just say you think he is better

Oh brother, you think TYLER is the reason they won in 2018 and 2019? You cannot attribute a team win to one player alone.

The only difference between the 2018 and 2019 Team USA roster was that they swapped Corey Deuel for Justin Bergman. The other 4 players remained the same (SVB, Sky, Billy, Tyler)

They won because Johann was their captain and they were breaking with the 1 on the spot. Europe had players like Kaci and Kazakis both of those years, who didn't play that well under the bright lights and folded under pressure. SVB said in an interview that USA is losing because they changed to 9 on the spot and now they no longer have the advantage of the break, which takes away their focus on actually playing because now they have to spend more time trying to get the break down. I don't know if I buy that but he's a champion so I'll go with it.

Why does Styer "deserve" it more than others? If anything, other players deserve a shot at the team, due to Styer having so many chances without producing any evidence that he should be on the team.

I get that he's one of your favorite players, but that's not enough.
