Chicago pool happenings

I agree with all the local Chitown members about safety.

They , as I do, know where the worst places are and it is not everywhere. Get a hod dog, or a deep dish pizza, play some pool and your in for a great time.

Chris’s gets my vote. Sadly the parking lot next to the fire station is off limits or was when I retired to NC..

If anybody's curious, here are stats from 2024. Chicago ain't Disneyland, but it ain't Memphis either - just another city.

pj <- wouldn't want anybody to miss a trip to Chris's

Just for context my other home is Oakland. Lol. #2. I’ve also lived in Denver, Portland, Phoenix and Atlanta.

Atlanta is not on the list but when I lived there it was very dangerous.

We were headed north thru Chicago on the way home from a race down south on a Sunday night, we got off on I think it was the Coney Island exit with a trailer wiring problem, the police pulled up next to us and said "you folks should not be here at this time of night" he escorted us back to 94 (or 294), it was many a year ago.

Also, the OP might want to try Cafe Billiards on Irving Park Road, just east of Austin Av. Good room. Also lots of pinball machines.
My Oldest son and his family live near Cafe Billiards. I have peered in the windows a couple times but I want to stop in soon and show my son 3C.

It was STONEY Island, which means you were on the South Side, and the cop did you a big favor.

Like all cities, Chicago has safe and unsafe areas. I used to live in Cicero, back when it was still a mob town and very safe at all hours of the day or night. But, if you got on the wrong side of Cicero Avenue after dark, you were dead meat.

If you are worried about crime, there are online crime maps and gang maps, but best to ask the locals. Chicago is very neighborhoody.

Chris's has 3C tables and players, not far from Cafe.
Thanks Patrick. I have yet to try Chris's. Maybe in May.
Also, don't sleep on 5000 years Carom billiards on Dempster in Morton Grove. Maps has it at 17 minutes from O'hare.

Several billiards tables and a lot of pool tables. It's a great practice room and the equipment is in great condition. Diamond bar tables and several 9' tables.

I saw that when looking at Maps. It is close to my Sons house also.
Thanks.
