Best Current Pool Players 70+ Years Old?

Outside of having a completely debilitating physical or mental medical
Issue in your 70s and beyond - where you give up the game entirely; no matter how well one can still execute at that age - very few if any player 70 and beyond would have the physical and mental stamina to compete at a pro winning level for hours and hours a day over the stretch of a multi day tournament or gambling session.
Varner will play a race to 3 in 1P, take over six hours for that, then do it all over again till everyone else falls dead🤣
Several of us 70+ will play a 12hr match

I'm 81, and the main problem is consistency. Some weeks I'll easily beat 600+ Fargo Rated players and win our local non-handicap tournament, but then the next week I'll go 2 and out while dogging shots that a small child could make. I only wish I could combine my current stroke mechanics with the motivation / focus I had as a 30 year old.

Davenport and Varner are still playing pretty darn good.
I am really curious if ANYONE (other than maybe Nick himself) enjoys watching 1p when the Varner wedge is in play? Completely unwatchable to me.
One pocket fans enjoy watching highly defensive/strategic games because 99% of us aren't Tony Chohan or Fedor and can't run 8 and out everytime we get up.

there is a big difference in a strategic game which has a lot of appeal to watch and learn from

and a big stall game with a wedge or such so you wear your opponent down so much he sells out because you are such a shithole to play against.
why not just go to the bathroom for ten minutes after every shot when they play that wedge thing. force the t.d. to do something about players that purposely stall games.

Yes - some will and can - as I said - very few, not many - only the lucky ones. Glad that you and Nick are in the plus category.

I'm going on 73 and hate to say it but feeling it. I practice ( at home) every day and go to the poolhall every Friday and play with a guy that's 83. I'm good for the 3 hours that we play and am bagged after that. All the events I've played in lately I find I'm waiting a good 5-6 hours to play and I just want to have a nap. The 1st event after a 25 year hiatus was my best result as i started right away and went 4 rounds before I fizzled.
This is very normal for one in their 70s even if you are otherwise in good mental and physical condition. Those that claim that they are as sharp after many hours of play in their 70s as they were in their 30s are either very rare lucky birds or just not living in reality.

I find at home I can sit on the couch or on a recliner when I get a little tired and at the poolhall I need a quick smoke break ( I quit smoking perse) and have only smoke 3-4 cigarettes a week. I still enjoy it and down from a pack a day. I get hot flashes from the hormone treatment and when they come on I seem to really play good lol

At 74 and the Little Feet Song just lights up the words, Ya Know Your Over The Hill, When Your Mind Makes A Promise Your Body Can't Fill.

You can certainly (and even most likely) due to your decades of experience be a better strategic player, a better position player, a smarter player and a better defensive player at 70 than you were 30-50 years earlier.

But in my opinion, in no way are you going to play as consistently and be as good a shotmaker, particularly on the longer harder shots than you were as a young player.

He's playing Russian Kenny for 8k this weekend
Do you know where they're playing? Ron has always played very well for the cash. It seems like the more he plays for, the better he plays. He doesn't book very many losers either. I like Ron over Kenny playing any game.
