That was the 2023 DCC, when Reyes was 68. He turned 69 about 7 months later.... i believe efren was 69 y.o. when he placed 3rd in DCC one pocket. ...

He's playing Russian Kenny for 8k this weekendIs Ron Casanzio over 70? He just won a Predator tour stop in Toronto, beating Jason Klatt and some other 700 + Fargos along the way. He still plays great.
Varner will play a race to 3 in 1P, take over six hours for that, then do it all over again till everyone else falls deadOutside of having a completely debilitating physical or mental medical
Issue in your 70s and beyond - where you give up the game entirely; no matter how well one can still execute at that age - very few if any player 70 and beyond would have the physical and mental stamina to compete at a pro winning level for hours and hours a day over the stretch of a multi day tournament or gambling session.
unfortunately that 12 hour match will be a race to 5Varner will play a race to 3 in 1P, take over six hours for that, then do it all over again till everyone else falls dead
Several of us 70+ will play a 12hr match
My Saturday one pocket opponent and I play a 3 ball rule,as soon as 3 balls or more are in the kitchen we spot up all but 2 makes the games go much faster and cuts down on safe, safe safe.Be enjoyable to see Varner & Efren play one pocket. /But without the Varner Wedge.

One pocket fans enjoy watching highly defensive/strategic games because 99% of us aren't Tony Chohan or Fedor and can't run 8 and out everytime we get up.I am really curious if ANYONE (other than maybe Nick himself) enjoys watching 1p when the Varner wedge is in play? Completely unwatchable to me.
Yes - some will and can - as I said - very few, not many - only the lucky ones. Glad that you and Nick are in the plus category.Varner will play a race to 3 in 1P, take over six hours for that, then do it all over again till everyone else falls dead

This is very normal for one in their 70s even if you are otherwise in good mental and physical condition. Those that claim that they are as sharp after many hours of play in their 70s as they were in their 30s are either very rare lucky birds or just not living in reality.I'm going on 73 and hate to say it but feeling it. I practice ( at home) every day and go to the poolhall every Friday and play with a guy that's 83. I'm good for the 3 hours that we play and am bagged after that. All the events I've played in lately I find I'm waiting a good 5-6 hours to play and I just want to have a nap. The 1st event after a 25 year hiatus was my best result as i started right away and went 4 rounds before I fizzled.
I saw he's played a few 3c tournaments recently and he was not lost on those tables for sure.I don’t see that anyone mentioned Matlock yet. He’s over 70, right?
How about if you just go with 2 of the 3?!if you smoke, do drugs, and are inactive then 70 can be crippling.
I find at home I can sit on the couch or on a recliner when I get a little tired and at the poolhall I need a quick smoke break ( I quit smoking perse) and have only smoke 3-4 cigarettes a week. I still enjoy it and down from a pack a day. I get hot flashes from the hormone treatment and when they come on I seem to really play good lolThis is very normal for one in their 70s even if you are otherwise in good mental and physical condition. You can certainly (and even most likely) due to your decades of experience be a better strategic player, a better position player, a smarter player and a better defensive player at 70 than you were 30-50 years earlier. Those that claim that they are as sharp after many hours of play in their 70s as they were in their 30s are either very rare lucky birds or just not living in reality.
Do you know where they're playing? Ron has always played very well for the cash. It seems like the more he plays for, the better he plays. He doesn't book very many losers either. I like Ron over Kenny playing any game. He's playing Russian Kenny for 8k this weekend
