CJ Wiley: flat earther

The "touch of inside" thing is more offensive to me
I never totally agreed with it. There are often other better ways to shoot certain shots. TOI is not the end-all, be-all to play better pool.

I'd recommend the Miz when he said Practice, Practice and more practice. Also Ray Martin's 99 Critical Shots. There several other great sources of Pool info that never mentions anything about TOI.

By advancing a theory like this throws everything CJ says into question. And then this childish nonsense about the Sun, the Moon and three ball combos takes the cake.

he is right about an advanced civilization 20,000 years ago.

its called the natives and indians and such that lived then.

they had good family values and only took from the land what they really needed not wasted all the resources. and did not need all sorts of gimmicks and gizmos to occupy their time.
They also built amazing structures 5,000-10,000 years ago and we still don't know how they did it.

I read some people's writing and just hope they are doing like I used to do years ago. I would lead a person or a group I was standing in down logical steps, none of which could be disputed. Since each thing could have more than one answer it was possible for every step to be true and the end conclusion ridiculous. Yet nobody could say any one conclusion was false in itself!

I once worked alongside people of fairly low intelligence who had some strange beliefs. This was a bit weird to me. What was really weird though were intelligent, well educated people, wo had gotten some really strange ideas along the way.

I assume that most full time pool players are fairly uneducated. Probably less true of the younger generations but I think in my early days from the sixties to the eighties it was true. I don't mean to say that pool players were unintelligent, just that they had went down paths that resulted in little formal education.

Efren is a fine example. Almost certainly highly intelligent, also fairly certain he would score very poorly on an IQ test due to very little formal education. We always struggle to discern between IQ and education.

TOI is like LCHF diet, it probably helps in that it makes you more conscious of how you are shooting/eating. heightened awareness. has little to do with the specific spin/food applied, and there are other ways to achieve the same thing.

I first dealt with a haunted house when I was six years old, long before my first horror movie or ghost story. Lots of things that couldn't be explained then or now! I stayed up until after 2AM to watch the end of my first horror movie. One of the wax museum movies, I forget which then. I was the only one awake or in the living room. That movie was so scary I had to hide behind my dad's big recliner to watch it!(grin) Scared me mightily.

I have had premonitions a handful of times. The first when I was fifteen, maybe sixteen. I was playing pool in a place near the house and I couldn't shake an uneasy feeling. I went the mile or two home and got my pool cue which I never normally carried.

When I got back I got my cue butt out but still didn't put it together and play with it. A little later three guys I had gotten in a fight with showed up. Also there was William, a fairly recently retired pro boxer who was seeing a dancer that was somebody's ex wife. I knew the girl slightly, and I had played pool with William many times.

Next thing I knew, William and I were against an old stage in the back of the place. I had the butt of the across my chest like a baton and William was alongside me.

Things cooled off after awhile, I was looking pretty ready with the cue and more importantly William wasn't a picnic for anyone to take on. After five or ten minutes the people in the back of the crowd were pushing forwards and the people in front were obviously leaning backwards to not get pushed into William or my cue. William beat twenty-four men arm wrestling later when things calmed down, some multiple times, some with both hands. I faded with some friends I had made that night. Funny thing, neither William or any of those men had been in the place when the uneasy feeling settled on me.

I got that same feeling a half dozen more times. Sometimes I knew why later, sometimes I never knew. However, when I got that feeling of dread I bailed without question. Sometimes we know something without knowing why. Occult probably isn't the answer, I don't know. My guess is a sense we have that isn't recognized yet. Can't rule out the occult though and sometimes it is a matter of when in doubt get the hell out!

Had several experiences like that. One time I'm walking out of a casino and had a strange premonition about the Chuck-A-Luck game by the exit. The number six stuck in my head and I felt like I had to play, even though the odds are so bad. I walked over and put 100 on the number six.

Lo and behold three 6's came up on that spin. I knew I should quit but I couldn't help myself so I played once more and quit. That was weird!

We have powers we don't understand and strength we didn't know excisted. I've gotten out of some serious jams by showing power instead of weakness. Saw the fear in their eyes and watched them cower.

Not every system works for everyone.

I happen to like the TOI system.

Darn right. I visited Stonehenge in June with a friend. The tour guide, who referred to it as "a giant 4,000-year-old Lego" noted that not only have they not figured out how they erected the structure, which involved lifting stones that weighed thousands of pounds, to great heights, but they cannot figure out how the stones (of a type only available in Northern Wales at the time, some 100+ miles away) were brought to the Salisbury plain on which Stonehenge sits.

The evidence that even prehistoric man had a great comprehension of science and engineering is undeniable, but nobody can fully explain numerous prehistoric achievements. Yes, the pyramids and Stonehenge are the best know mysteries, but there are many others.

But there weren't many of them, they needed less from the world.

One of many factors as to why Filler is better than Lassiter😳

Good post. Two things that are true: a) there are things we don't yet understand (Stonehenge and the Pyramids are good examples) and b) some of what we think we know will be proven incorrect sometime in the future, much in the way that Copernicus proved in 1543 that the widely accepted geocentric model of the universe was in error and needed to be replaced by a heliocentric model.

Still, we're not debating the origin of the earth or the universe here, just the shape of the earth. We have been photographing the earth from space for over sixty years and there are so many images suggesting a basically spherical shape that it is hard to reach any other conclusion regarding its shape.

Is it possible that we're wrong and that the many such photos are a cosmic ruse that has misled us? Yes, it is, but we tend to reach our conclusions based on the evidence in front of us, so at least for now, the earth is round.

Unless it's possible that pool balls are flat, however, this thread is not pool related,
The Flefers like to claim that those Earth photos are AI because man has never been to space. But they still cant explain the unique stars you see in each hemisphere and that they rotate in opposite directions when you look up at them which proves the obvious.

All TOI or any "system" does is get you in the ballpark, and distracts your conscious mind.
The contact point needing to be struck for some shots is quite tiny, and there's really no way to "aim" that accurately, given the mechanics of any shot. Your eyes are too far away from the cue, and even if you could look directly down the cue with a sight on it like a rifle, it would be tough to hit that tiny spot every time.
Every great player relies on instinct and muscle memory and angle recognition. If they're selling you a "system" they're doing it to make money.

I've had one similar experience that was really weird and hard to explain.

When I was a teenager, I was with my parents when they were set up at a flea market. This flea market ran a weekly 50/50 raffle. Anyone could get in, customers and vendors. The 50/50 was a way to raise some extra money for the folks that owned the flea market. Anyway, one week I bought a ticket for the 50/50 and I knew I was going to win. Absolutely certain and without doubt. I can't even explain the feeling except that I was 100% positive I was going to win. I could even recall planning what I was going to do with the money.

Because we were set up there, I was there for the afternoon drawing. I went up and waiting for the drawing to collect my money. As expected, my ticket / number was drawn. I believe I won a few hundred bucks. Tickets were a dollar each and they kept half; that means they sold around 400 tickets, and my chances were 1 in 400. That was 45-50 years ago and never had a similar experience / premonition.

I have to disagree with ya on this one. I don't use TOI because I'm too old to change and I'm no longer obsessed with playing good pool. In theory though, it makes perfect sense.

CJ gives the example of shooting a spot shot with left and right spin while aiming at the same spot on the object ball (in other words, not trying to compensate for the spin and deflection). See how far off each shot is. He said that's what happening when you put inadvertent spin on the cue. TOI logic is to put intentional inside on the cue to reduce that variability of hitting either side. Several famous players did it before CJ started promoting it.

I had a similar, though entirely less lucrative experience, only once in my life.

There was a coffee vending machine at work that served its fare in paper cups. On the bottom of each cup was printed a random playing card. I was with a young lady colleague, with whom I had a particular very strong mutual attraction, although I was not able to act on it because I was married. I dunno, we had some sort of spiritual connection. It’s hard to describe it.

But damned if in the instant the cup deployed I impulsively pronounced “Ten of Diamonds!” I had never before tried to guess the card printed on the cup’s bottom. Something told me to blurt it out, and I don’t know how but knew I was right. And there it was. One-in-52 chance.

We both looked at each other mystified.

Too bad it never happened with something of more and beneficial consequence.

The biggest flaw with TOI is that it is a cure for a problem that doesn't exist, actually makes the problem worse! Shooting at the middle of the cue ball a slight error has very little effect. People think it is the end of the world if you meant to use one sidespin and you get none or less or even cross over the centerline of the cue ball. The reality is it has less to do with the path of the balls than if you are starting from a touch of inside to begin with.

With a touch of inside, the surface of the cue ball is now falling away on one side. If the amount of error on each side is the same for a centerball hit or a touch of anything hit, the degree of ball path error will be greater when the two sides are not equal. The whole touch of inside thing has always been a red herring. It might create more focus in an individual but so will other less harmful things.

its all random . as we live we have millions of thoughts and experiences. some will hit just by chance. there is nothing magical or unexplainable about it.

and they do know how the pyramids were built by up to 20,000 laborers working round the clock in shifts. the blocks were floated near or to them on part of the nile which was filled in over the centuries and no longer there. then using ramps they pushed them up in place.

it may be mind boggling to us but was done without help from outer space aliens.

i know and visited a person and i saw it, who built a complete and exact stonehenge in his yard. he had the big stones carved elsewhere of the same material as the original, and then trucked up 2000 miles, to his place in the dead of night, because of the way over loaded trucks, and set in.

when there is a will there is a way.
