New Soft Tip Makes That Sticking Sound

All kamui blacks have that sticky, plastic sound. I've used them in every hardness. Switched back to single layer tips and will never look back. The trick with any tip is to trim it down short. It will play harder and hold it's shape better. It is also much easier to jump with a short tip.

    I learned how to draw!

until you've miscued and jumped the ball off the table a hundred times practicing your power draw, you won't have that feel for the sweet spot. Keep working on it. You're probably still not hitting as low as you think you are if you're only getting one table length. When you can draw back to the...

This forum needs a Bar Section...

yeah it would be nice to not have the front page of the main forum full of threads called "how do I get more draw" or "what cues produce the most english" ha ha. I've always thought it would be a good idea to give them their own section.

SVB break and play with same cue

I also break with my playing cue. I can pop it and stop it very consistently. With my break cue, I am MUCH less consistent with parking the ball, but it does transfer a little more power. If the table is not breaking well and I really need to crush em, I'll pull out the break cue. But if balls...

You must not read very well...

    Cue Tip Question

My favorite Kamui would have to be a soft cut way down short or a medium at a medium height. I used Kamui for years hard and soft, black and brown... as well as every other layered tip out there. After trying a milk dud (hard pressed elkmaster), I will NEVER shoot with a layered tip again. Try...

Which cue should I play with?

If I'm playing an APA match that I know I will win, I play with a house cue, just to make my opponent quiver a little at the thought that he's about to get his ass kicked by a 7/9 using a broomstick, more or less... and I actually like the way house cues play if they're straight and balanced ok...

    is jumping allowed in APA?

Yes you can jump but not with the short cue. Also you cannot switch cues mid rack to jump with your break cue. Whichever cue you use for your first shot after the break is the cue you must use to finish the rack.

    Why the jump cues?

You're right that different things work for different players... I just assumed that I would see at least a few players who prefer to jump full cue in certain scenarios... With my height and size, I can hop the ball cleanly with a medium stroke and good control... but that may be much more...

    Why the jump cues?

For ME, some jump shots are just easier with a full cue, both in pocketing the ball and controlling the cue ball, and I am only wondering why it is seemingly so different for others. That is all. In other words, I find that I shoot certain jump shots better with a full cue than the short cue...

    Why the jump cues?

I'm talking about a seven foot table.... next time my buddy comes over with his smart phone I'll have him video me shooting some jump shots. If I nail it and draw back 3 or 4 times out of 5, you might reconsider... But of course in a match with higher stakes, play a kick safe if you're more...

    Why the jump cues?

I understand the use of a jump cue I'm not that dense... I'm a 7/9... I'm talking SPECIFICALLY about shots that are easier to execute full cue. Like say a long straight shot where you have to draw back full table, and you have to jump a ball 16" away. Pocketing that long distance and drawing...

    Why the jump cues?

It's easier to jump with a lessor stroke using a jump cue. You can hop the ball medium paced with control with a full cue if you can handle the weight and balance of the cue when elevated. Being tall helps. Otherwise the only difference between a full cue and jump cue is the harder tip and...

    Why the jump cues?

I play with a milk dudded elkmaster which is a very hard tip, so I can stun a jump shot or use a little english, but you're right that it's generally more difficult to control the cue ball. You are right in assuming that I don't use a 'LD' shaft... I think they feel terrible.I, too, use my...

    Why the jump cues?

I play APA league, where jump cues are not allowed, so jumping with my playing cue is something I do often. I have a jump cue for the close jumps (8-9 inches or closer) for non-league nights/tournaments. Here's my question; why do I see so many players, even top pros, take out the jump cue for...
