Jayson Shaw’s 832 World Record is Official

Congrats. This is a crazy feat. How many hours?
In the February issue of Billiards Digest, my column has a listing of the time for each rack. There were three time-outs totaling about 30 minutes, with a total elapsed wall-clock time of three hours and 39 minutes. The fastest rack was the first at 2:14 including racking time.

The listing also includes the location and number of each break ball, so if you watch the run, you can see in advance which ball will be used to get into the next rack. Jayson moved the break ball into (better) position in 37 of 59 racks, which is just insane, and he adjusted the break ball twice in 7 of those racks.

We are lucky to have several top shooters eager to hold the record. Like we have seen in other activities they may well push each other leading to numbers neither would have posted without the incentive of the other(s) chasing the record too.

Iron sharpens iron.

I play 3 hours of pool every weekend and its quite the task. If I'm playing by myself then I can only go an hour non-stop pocketing balls but I'm just throwing them out there. Maybe a break every 15 minutes. I do very fast paced since I consider it my cardio activity. I try to treat this game like a sport.

Pfft. I can go a couple shoot 'em ins before apathy sets in. Course this is at public rooms and bars. No drive to get anything done there. I might be a natural hussluh. lol...

It’s absolutly amazing. As Bob noted his break ball was just amazing. Was like BIH on all but 2 breaks as I recall, my notes aren’t here right now.

I was lucky to watch it as it happened live, I knew after the dinner break it was something special.

Well deserved and congrats to Jayson and Bobby for making it happen.

Was the most amazing accomplishment in pool I’ve ever seen by a lot. Ever. Wow

Shaw is unique player who is talanted, sadly he & his accomplishment go unnoticed to most of Pool Workd.

League player who have no exposure to much but their night out playing in a league.

Most do nothing know more then 8 or 9 Ball on a bar box.

Such an incredible run! Out of curiosity, does the BCA making it “official” mean something now? I thought when they verified Schmidt’s run everyone was saying it didn’t mean anything.

I always thought he was full of it for trying to break the record. Till one day my buddy showed me a short clip where, off memory, he was like 50 racks deep. Nonchalantly pocketing balls. Then all of a sudden he goes for a combo for no reason. There were other balls to pocket. Anyways, he missed the combo and the dejection and body language says it all. It was that day where I respect such a record. One mishap or lapse in concentration and everything is thrown out the window.

It was a lapse. And as you noted that’s all it takes to end a record. I know Jayson and he told me after his 700 ball run he was going to break 1000. I firmly believe he can and he will. If he doesn’t that’s still ok as his run is truly amazing.

This new record run even if he or anyone ever beats it still might rate as the best run ever in 14.1. He had one difficult shot after the break and only 2 kinda difficult breaks. It’s THAT clean, he was in line the whole time, which is beyond amazing.

I’ve been sweating pool for over 40 years now, I’ve had front row seats (not as many as Stu) but plenty end seen some amazing things over the years. Nothing close to this tho.

Was a fluke I happened to see it live, I knew it was something special. I hope everyone enjoys it much as I did. I’m not often a cheerleader in pool, but this is the exception.

Fatboy<——-fanboy for a day
