Why not switch the position of the 1 and 9 in 9-ball to make it more interesting?

The pros have the cut break figured out too well and I feel that sissy breaking is not good for the spectators.

If we switched the balls like stated or even just the 1 ball not being the head ball, new tacticts would need to be put in place.

What do you think?

Because every first shot would be a violation for not striking the lowest numbered ball on the table first?

Don't get all pissy there Ned, you're the one that came with 'Stupid Post of the Year' material. Should have seen the replies comin', its a tough room as Rodney Dangerfield used to say.
I have thought having the head ball be a ball other than the one is a good idea in 9 ball. With one on the spot and template racks, the pros make the wing ball on the break and play shape on the one. It makes 9 ball a joke to watch at the pro level. Even the 3 point rule doesn't make much of a difference. If you are using a template, no ball should be wired anywhere or be able to play shape. Bring back breaking hard to try to make a ball on the break.

The rules have changed so much over the years for the break in 9 ball. What makes one rule stupid vs another one good? Break from the box. Break outside the box. Change the size of the box. Put the 9 on the spot. 3 point rule at side pockets. 3 point rule at head string. Must use forceful break. If break is illegal, no push option.

How about AnyOne nine ball.
Can shoot any ball first when you arrive at the table, if you don't run out your opponent has the same option to win.

The wing ball is usually just as wired using a standard rack. The one isn't wired with 9 on the spot, pros just learned how to consistently make a ball from the break box with the 9 on the spot. Change the break rules and I'm sure they will find a way to make something, I think it's just the nature of a small rack.

Why do people think 9 ball is broken anyhow? In the to 120 between Shaw and Hoang there were only 6 B&R's after 48 racks (the first day) if I recall correctly. That doesn't seem like an unusually easy game to me.

Don't you think they would make the rule that you hit the head ball first, no matter what ball it was?

They make stupid rules, but I am not sure they are that stupid.
I don't know which rule would be more stupid, the hitting any ball first or putting the one in the center of the rack. Why not put the one in the back of the rack and force a kickshot break. Then it'll be impossible to control the balls and unlikely to make anything either.

Why not leave the rules alone and let 9-ball be 9-ball?

Make the races longer if you are afraid someone will run out the match from the first break?

It is getting ridiculous watching the game rules change every other day.

You're preaching to the choir son. Although I like the WNT break rules. I don't know that they're altogether necessary with the tighter conditions, but whateva'
