That seems to be a pretty neat idea considering the fact that when the wood expands/compresses - the o-ring is there to maintain the tolerance needed for a tight fit.

I agree it's very similar to bocote. Another wood that I find similar to this when cutting is Lignum Vitae. Very dense wood. Ziricote, bocote and lignum give me an upset stomach when I cut them:(

I have used ziricote a few times and I like the way the wood hits. Pretty solid. Seldom used for cues though but play a little bit like ebony or the harder rosewoods. It smells funny though. It would make an excellent playing cue so go ahead! just my 2 cents

what is the reason why you want the shaft heavier? balance? If it's shaft playability you're after it's not gonna change a thing.

35 layers flat laminates Thanks for the reply. I'll get in touch with you as soon as I fnalize my desig project. I was looking at the meucci black dot with 35 layers and I was thinking maybe anyone knows a source for that?

How many laminates per inch would that be? Thanks!
