    Nylon Thread

I have spools of nylon wrapping material. This was part of my purchase when Dufferin went out of business here in Canada. It seems a little thinner than the linen wrap. I do have it in the colours you want.

drilling the front end of completed shaft

Its fairly easy to do but you will probably lose about 1/2" of shaft length. The shaft will have to be cut where the ferrule and shaft meet. The hole can now be drilled. You then have to make a tenon about 1/2" long out of the shaft. Put your ferrule on the new tenon. This is how the...

    Coring Question

I use a 11/16 to core. I just like that little extra bit of wood around the core when the cue is finished.

    Morado

Dufferin used to make a pretty basic cue for Brunswick and they told me it was Morado. I have used it in making jump cues.

    Flat laminated maple squares

I still have a bunch of the ones I bought from Dufferin a few years ago. A number of the AZers have bought them but primarily for dowels. I know a couple were using them for break cue shafts but I know of none that thought they were acceptable for regular shafts.

    Measuring Balance Point

Dick, I balance it with the bumper on but measure it without. Just the way I do it.

    Measuring Balance Point

It is measured with the shaft on the butt. I just balance it on my finger and then measure the distance from the butt (not including the bumper) to my finger. Typically between 18.5 and 19.5 inches.

    Snooker Cue Joint Conversion

Yes it is. Both would have to be redrilled and one end plugged but any competent cue maker could do it.

    couple of questions.....

I use automotive clear to repair chips. I have a couple small bottles that I use to mix up small portions and fill the chip. The sooner you do this after the chip the better as dirt in the chip can effect the results. You may have to fill it a couple times until it is just higher than the...

How would you install a 9mm ferrule?

I do them all the time and the vast majority are just a .250 tenon with a phenolic press fit ferrule. They stand up great (for snooker) and hit nice.

    Cuemakers, is this normal?

Probaby Nelsonite. This can happen if the shaft doesn't have enough time to mellow the odour. You will find if you leave it out of the case for a few weeks that it will go away but it can be pretty strong.

    Loctite

It also matters how you are preparing the tips. If the problem is with Mooris it is probably because the glue is soaking in after you sand the backs and not leaving enough glue on the surface. I find Moori are the worst for this. Put one coat of glue on and let it dry for a minute and then...
