    We Use To Be #1

Thats spot on. It is expensive to play pool here unless you have a deal with the pool room to get a monthly plan or something. Another thing is that the youth in America is not involved. There is no way American pool can stay in contention with Taiwan when Taiwan has kids in middle school that...

    Biado 6 to 7 shot.

Try playing with various thin cut angles and speed and i am sure you will get it. The table condition also plays a bit factor. Basically it is a thin cut with a lot of inside that hit hit hard enough so the spin wouldnt bite immediately on the first rail but soft enough that by the time it hits...

Lee Van Corteza vs Lo Li-Wen (LIVE)

There certainly are a lot of positive traits of the Taiwanese culture, but there are also just as many non-hard working people there as well. There are plenty of hard working Americans too. The main difference is that in the American culture, many people settle, while in Taiwan many people want...

Lee Van Corteza vs Lo Li-Wen (LIVE)

I grew up in Taiwan so I know the pool scene there really well. Instead of going to malls and smoking weed, the teens in Taiwan hang out at pool halls (during or after school :)) The thing is, any pool halls you go to, and there are plenty of them (used to be more), you will see run out pool in...

Lee Van Corteza vs Lo Li-Wen (LIVE)

Thats part of it. But that's not the main reason. Taiwan and lately China train their players from a young age thus producing a lot of great talents. Another thing about Taiwan is that there's a lot of resources and its easy to find coaching and be matched up because its sucha a small place -...

I like Dennis' chances on the tight HT tables, he always seems to out play the field in that equipment.

    Tight pockets?

I agree. Tight pockets does separate the world beaters from the normal "pros." On bigger pockets with ideal condition, the game simply gets too simple for them (good condition felt, new balls, magic rack). That is the set up they have in the professional pool league in Taiwan, its almost an...

    Tight pockets?

Do tight pockets help your game? Think about the easy transition for snooker players to play pool. They pocket extremely well and have basic knowledge of position. No matter what you are going to get off line and good accuracy helps you stay in your run and learning to play on tight pockets do...

Could you be a pro player?

How many pros can actually make a living without having to worry about their future?

Could you be a pro player?

Depends on what you mean by pro speed. To make a comfortable living playing pool? No way. But to be considered a pro and dominate the local fields with ease, 2 years is possible with proper coaching. The thing about pool compared to a lot of other professional sports is that we haven't even come...

Ko pin yi going to bca nationals Las Vegas

2000 dollar plane ticket + hotel stay and three to four times the cost of living. You would have to place in about top 3 or so to break even for titles that most of those players don't covet as much as the Americans do. The Taiwanese players see WPC as the most coveted title as well as the Asiam...

Who is missing from THIS LIST?

Basically any of the top players from Taiwan or China. You will probably add about 10-15 players to this list that are all monsters.

I saw Wang Can in Tunica this morning.

JB explained the Taiwanese version of the game and that is played on pocket tables in Taiwan as carom tables there are rare. The Korean version of the game is much simpler. Look up "Sagu" or Four Balls on google and you'll find some information on it. Basically there are 2 cue balls (1 yellow 1...

Ko pin yi going to bca nationals Las Vegas

Just wondering, why is Wu your favorite player to watch? And if its still the same of his game today or did you actually only enjoyed watching him play when he was in his teens instead.

    Can Wang

I can tell you some things about the Taiwanese pool scene as I spent most of my young life and learned to play the game there. Commercially, pool has been on a decline for the past 5-10 years already and many pool rooms are dying. in my hometown of Kaohsiung (population of about 1.5 million)...

Pool Table: china made compare to taiwan made

Someine correct me if I am wrong but i am sure the Taiwanese brand tables are all manufactured in china now and should probably play similar.

    Recent Taiwan Pool Halls trip

One thing I'd like to add about equipment in Taiwan is that the balls are waxed after each use. The way the balls play change throughout the session and its quite obvious when the wax is rubbed off.
