Is cue making your only job?

Cues have been my job for 6 years. I'm a one man shop and I spend my time building cues. I don't do repairs or replace tips unless it's a cue I built or for a good friend. Wendy has CF and gets a little from the state. We're not rich in any way but we have no debt and we're happy. Life has...

    A Cue Tip Poll

I've tried both. Nothing can compete with Kamui at this time. I tested two of your tips on my cue when you started promoting. They hit good. Sorry the Kamui hits better. If they play better now send me one SS. If it plays equal or better and it doesn't cost more I won't build a cue that...

Bubinga show your Bubinga Cues PLEASE!!!!!!!

Looks like Quilted to me. The cues I posted are Waterfall. IMO Bubinga has many looks and each has a name to help describe it. I don't think there's anything written in stone were to fallow when naming Bubinga.

    Unique***out of the box****scott gracio

....................... Thanks for the compliments. I'll go into more detail from what Cueballdg mentioned. I started the inlays from center out thinking it would be easier to replace the butt of forearm section if something went wrong. The closer I got to finishing the design the less I...

What happened to the old cue gallery

You should share all the pics you have time for. We all love pics. Just make sure it belongs in the section you post it. I start my day looking at the cues posted in the gallery. New builder, master builder, perfect pics or terrible pics it doesn't matter. I enjoy them all and more need...

Tip keeps mushrooming after a few games...

A true med or soft tip will compact with play and mushroom. Burnishing it level is not good for the structure of the tip and will mushroom again. It needs to be cut off. I don't recommend superglue. The superglue soaks in and makes the outside edge hard making the most important area of the...

Retipping 80+ one piece bar cues.

I tipped way too many bar cues. It's a pain. You need to set up a system or you'll hate life. Triangle tips handled bar life the best. All other inexpensive tips had a higher fail percentage. Splitting, cracking, chipping not delaminating. It's not fun to start a pile of 100 bar cues and 25 are...

Will 2000grit sandpaper take off any wood?

Yes. A little at a time. Fine paper is better then a scuff pad.

    why do some cue makers

Can we or should we start a new thread to get back on track? The inlays dictate if I carve or not. I don't like sharp and round corners mixed in a design. If the design can be drawn so every corner is sharp I carve. If I can't draw it to get sharp I&O ( I&O=inner and outer) corners...

    My new spindle and VFD

Great buy. I looked at those several times before pulling the trigger on a new spindle. I wanted more RPM's so I had to spend a little more.

Cues play better after time or use?

I will say yes for a couple reasons. First is the obvious. The glues, sealers, and clears used to build cues are not 100% cured when the cue is shipped so IMO it takes a month or two for the tone to peak. Second and important IMO. Wood gets better over time. I've converted many cues that...

    My New Scott Gracio

Did they restrict the sale of one these woods? Can you go into more detail what 1993 has to do with these woods. I purchased this piece 5 years ago and had in my mind it was Black Palm. This was a unique order of all 36" rounds from Bell Forest which I only ordered one Palm piece. I'll...
