any up and comming cue makers

Mike Pancerny for sure. Just had some refinish work done on a shaft by him and test hit with a few of his finished cues. All top notch. I'm looking at trying to get one of his customs here very shortly. http://www.customcuemaker.com/index.htm

    How excited do you get?

I get pretty jazzed when it's my league night. Practice days at pool halls are fairly standard now for me, but I look forward to Thursday night all week just so I can compete.

    denatured alcohol help

Denatured alcohol won't harm the shaft. It's often used in wood working to easily clean sawdust (from sanding, etc.) off wood products.

Pool Cues now made in China?

You're not even close with this number. As for the China quality issue I'll say this; when it comes to wood it's generally not a good idea to ship it back and forth overseas (saltwater) on barges. This has been a constant issue with the skateboarding community as the wood becomes more prone to...

Color of Money, Book v Movie...

So I just read the Color of Money over the past two days and very much enjoyed it. I was pretty suprised at how vast the differences between the book and the movie were though. Outside of the character names and some dialog here and there, they weren't even close. Which did you enjoy more?

Shot a game with Hopkins tonight...

He was at the Shark Club in Canton. It was nice because is was a very low key thing. No one really announced that he was coming so there were no crowds.

Shot a game with Hopkins tonight...

I'd love to, but being in the Metro Detroit area doesn't make it easy to get ahold of people like Dawn let alone get lessons. Does she have any instructional DVD's or anything?

Shot a game with Hopkins tonight...

No, but he was kind enough to answer some questions after. I told him I'd only been playing seriously for three months and he was pretty impressed. Maybe there's hope for me afterall, lol.

Shot a game with Hopkins tonight...

That doesn't surprise me at all. He took the time to sign everybody's item, take photos, chat, and shoot games with complete strangers and treat them like friends. It's always nice to meet a professional (in any walk of life) and have them represent their craft that way.

Shot a game with Hopkins tonight...

So Allen showed up to support a new rack our BCA league is using and I had a chance to get a photo, an autograph and shoot a game with him as well. Didn't do all that well, but I'm only a C player anyway. Watched him clean house for a couple of hours before he had to leave. Hell of a nice guy.

    Not leaving a feedback

No, no one can force you to leave feedback but an attitude like this is what perpetuates the problem to begin with.

    Not leaving a feedback

I'll disagree with this. Using Ebay for purchases means being familiar with and using their feedback system not only to help yourself, but to help others as well.

    Your very first cue...

I still have my first cue. Then again I only bought the thing two months ago. Crappy used Mecucci, but I upgraded to a McDermott Summit and now I'm looking at adding Pechauer and Joss' as well. Funny how that always seems to happen.
