What design would you have Hercek make for you?

My long long wait for my Hercek cues is coming to an end shortly. I spoke with this this morning and my order for two cues will begin in his next batch starting in a couple months.

Now what to build. He can do it all. Fancy, plain, wrap, wrappless, 4 point, 8 point, and he has all the best woods. He is truly one of the great cue makers.

If you were having him build you a cue how would you have it done?

Full splice.
But that's just because I love the way they hit.
And I tend to use my cues to play pool with them.....
Just kidding, except for the full splice part.

You Won The Cue Lotto........Figuratively Speaking.

Of course the cues would be full splice........Joel learned from the greatest........one would be a 4 pointer
and the other would be a 6 pointer. You never see 6 point Hercek cues and maybe there's a reason?

Veneer colors are your own personal taste and the amount of inlays and type/pattern are also whatever
you prefer. IMO, designs between level 5 & 6 are patterns that are the most handsome to my eye.

You have a unique opportunity and a rare treat most will never come even close to enjoying.......take all my
customs I had made (3) plus the two (2) underway and the thrill of having all 5 cues made is but a shiver
compared to the thrill you're going to experience. IMO, Joel is the #1 cue-maker on this planet.

I'm always a sucker for wrapless.
A gaboon ebony handle will be really cool

Why put a wrap on a big portion of the cue when you can display some beautiful exotic wood !!

4 ebony pts with flame veneers into figured bem.

Mind sharing how long you wait ??

Something out of the box type of thinking imo. Hercek has the talent to pull it off so push the limits on this bad boy :). Pick a badass design and go with it unless you want to just do yet another same ol looking cue that a lot of people have (nice looking of course, but the same look as a bunch of others).

6 pointer, full splice, wrapless, with the 6points mirrored down into the handle. Same 6 points down into the end cap and mirrored up into the lower portion of the handle.

Better get as much ivory loaded into these cues as financially possible. You'll thank me in 10 years.

And, if you were really triple smart, you'd make the cues identical in design, just using different colors and woods. That way, they can always be sold separately (of course), or a set. Which makes them a special sort of rare commodity if that's what you need them to be in the future.

I am also on Joel's list and should be hearing from him fairly soon. Did you specify that you wanted 2 cues when you first got on his list or did you just tell him you wanted two when he called. I cant remember when i got on the list if i had to specify the number of cues i wanted.

Some nice ideas here!

I would give him a color scheme, wood preference and maybe a theme. Set a budget and let Mr. Hercek decide the rest. It would have to be wrapless and full splice for me though. The rest would be up to him.

Lots of these posts are people saying what they like...thinking about it, if I were in your shoes, I'd be going absolutely bonkers trying to decide. I'd probably lean heavily on the maker's advice...ask him to make one a playing cue I could take anywhere and the other more of a showpiece. I'm sure both will have that proverbial "ton" hit.

If he has great lakes shaft wood, I'd want at least one of the shafts made of that.

Next up? Deciding on a case (or cases) for these....

I'm with you on this idea. One a player and one a closet queen.

I personally would want to have him do an interpretation of Burton Spain's model #34 cue. Particularly if I had that cue model in my collection, which I dont, but certainly would love to.

Joel is the best...

I recently took delivery of my latest Hercek and words cannot explain the precision of this cue.

The experience of having Joel making your cue is amazing, Joel allowed me to take part in selecting the Cocobolo blank color/grain, veneer colors/combination, wrap, inlay design, etc, etc...

Oh, did I mention the wood grain in the bar bells match 360 degrees all around the wood grain in the butt, amazing attention to detail!

This cue hits a ton, it' s waiting in the wings to be my next player, my current player is a rare Five Veneer Hercek, Brazilian Rosewood/Spain old stock.

Enjoy,
