Entries are being taken and processed for both the 12th U.S. Open One Pocket Championship (May 12-15, 2011) and the 3rd U.S. Open 10-Ball Championship (May 16-21, 2011) both in the Royale Pro Arena at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.

We updated the CSI site late Friday to include the list of currently paid entrants for both events. It is a dynamic list that automatically updates as we add each paid entry to our system. The lists do not reflect the qualifiers that have been scheduled throughout North America, the winners will be added to our database as entered into those events as the qualifiers take place.

Hi Jay, I know I talked with Tang awhile back. We publicize both the invite list and the player list. I think maybe you were looking at the invite and not the registered player list. Click the link at the top where indicated. Hope you're doing well and see you in May.

Looking at the player list.......

Frost has got a pretty cool first name.

I wonder if I can get my first name changed to "Joey with a Tie"?

I wish John Lavin was playing in this event. It's been years since I've seen him. He, Lou and I hung out together at past U.S. OPen One Pocket tournaments and had a great time.

Jeanette can play one pocket and she too would be a great addition to the event as well as any of the women pros.

BY THE WAY, if a player pays his/her entry fee and then wins a qualifier, will their entry fee be refunded to them on their credit card?

Joey,
If someone wins a qualifier and has already paid for a spot, we will refund their entry. The qualifiers are listed on our site also.

I wish John Lavin was playing too. There is a qualifier in his room (Red Shoes) - I know Ike will be playing there. Ike also has a paid spot already.

We actually paid a 'recognition fee' to allow the women to play in the 10-Ball and the One Pocket. Not too many takers unfortunately.

Looking forward to a good event. But there are a couple of the previous champions that I wish would be playing. Several more entries are on the way in - including some strong players.

Remember - we don't put names down as entered unless they are PAID. That means some better players might 'snooze you loose'

Mark I will be up in Chicago for several days in a couple of weeks. He doesn't know it yet but I intend on seeing Monsignor Lavin and doing a bit of arm twisting. He and I hung out together at several editions of the US Open 1Pocket event when it was held up in Kalamazoo. Maybe I can get him there. We'd have a ball. Maybe even hold "Vespers" again.

Im sure SVB and alex are playing

The world 10 ball is May 9 - 15 in the Philippines so I wouldn't expect a lot of these players to be there. At least not for the 1 pocket which overlap these dates & the the U.S. Open 10 ball starts the very next day. Anybody making it to the last day or two of the world's would have a hard time making it back here that quickly.

They gain a day traveling back to U.S. We already have several players who signed up that will be coming straight from World 10 Ball. It's highly likely SVB signed up over the weekend while he was in Vegas, winning Mercer Memorial at Rum Runner's.

It always amazes me, there are about 6-8 major events in pool a year and they manage to put 2-4 of them on top of each other.

We became aware of the schedule when the World 10-Ball was confirmed in early January this year. The U.S. Open 10-Ball and One Pocket events had been scheduled for over a year and being held in conjunction with a larger group of events at the Riviera (our BCAPL Nationals), moving the One Pocket or 10-Ball was not an option. We were told that the organizers in Manila, Raya Sports, looked into changing their dates, but something prevented them also from being able to do so.

So...we are working closely with the WPA and the players to keep tabs on who is playing in Manila and also wishes to play in the U.S. Open 10-Ball. Thank God for the International Date Line is all I can say and we are exempting those who are traveling from the Philippines from having to attend the player meeting for the U.S. Open 10-Ball, which is scheduled at 4 pm on Monday the 16th. We will also work to schedule those players to start on Tuesday the 17th. Unfortunately that is the best we can do, but it is helpful for those poor guys who are having to play, pack, and run to the airport.

The world calendar of major events is a busy place and everyone from the WPA, the BCA and groups such as CSI are truly trying to work as best as possible to allow players the opportunity to play in as many events as they can.

Holly - if my memory is correct, this is not the first time this has happened for the May events in Las Vegas, right?
