★ The Best One Pocket Player in the World ★

Soon, very soon, but not yet

Agreed..... T is knocking on the door. I believe in an ahead set, it's him and Alex.

I don't believe 1 person is the best right now in a race to 5/7/or 10. These guys can all beat each other on any given day.

If Alex was playing more, he would have the edge. Efren is still right there as well, in the shorter races. Shane is at the top as well as Scott.

Corey has to be considered as well, especially in the shorter races, as does Justin Hall.

Tony Chohan.

I feel an earthquake coming on :)

Thank you! Finally some people agree! I know JAM did earlier on but the thread a posted a little while back had plenty of naysayers. Tony is going to knocking on that door next year

I must agree with this post!

I do not "KNOW" another top level player that can give Richie Richardson the breaks!!!

best frost would do was a ball based on this thread and it was not a cake walk.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=377790&highlight=richy&page=4

all the breaks, is much "more" weight than 9 to 8 or 8 to 7, much much more!

Yeah especially at the pro level. For short stops and below a ball (8-7) is bigger but when you break like the pros it's another story. I watched Tony play Richie in person and as tight as the table they played on was, Tony still shot lights out most of the time.

Best

Alex put on a clinic at last years Derby. If he is still at that level, he is the best.

I know who is the best 76 year old player.:D I will be at the Derby for any doubters.

The pags will squeeze tonys head so hard that it will look loke a meted scoop of chocolate ice cream, after the 3rd hour starts.

Alex doesnt shoot at things that arent certain and he executes what he plans.

Bata

Living, still Efren... of all time, Ronnie Allen. There's a dream match, Ronnie and Efren in their prime.

IHMO no one is going to want any of T-REX in another year or two. Hard to argue against the Lion after he destroyed derby, ran undefeated in Buffalos 2k, and then the 5 day match with Frost.
Personally like sweating any match with Smith, Roberts, and Grey. The all out style of Danny is always entertaining, Roberts is just all around solid, and Grey plays the best squeeze game of the younger guys.

Alex played horrible his first match at Buff's and never should have won. Josh was lost in the end game when he was up. There were a few times I wanted to jump up and call time out. LOL. To Alex's credit he battled and ended up winning that match and tournament.

So yes, right now I'd say he's the best.

I'd love to see a high stakes match between Scott and Tony for second best

In a tournament format, Dennis O. is very tough to beat. He won the last TWO U.S. Open One Pockets (2013-14) against very strong fields. Just saying

I think an ahead set with Alex/Tony would be incredible. I just don't see Tony coming out on top.

I agree 100% with this post! Only name I "MUST" add is Sylver Ochoa. I have seen him take down the dough so much that he must be included.

Honorable mention goes to
Dennis Orcollo, SVB, Jerome Jones, Darren Appleton & Jesse Bowman

the first 2, orcollo and svb are so offensive that watching so little defense and creativity make it less fun to watch. The one shot wonder twins. They either make the shot and win or else! nothing in-between and less of a tactically entertaining match.

Anyone not thinking it's currently Alex is not paying attention. The cast of possible characters:
  1. Efren - Best days behind him. Can't make the long pot anymore. Lacks stamina.
  2. Sctott F - Huge firepower and 1Hole Computer. Wants too much to impress the crowd and that gets used against him
  3. SVB - Not his best game and lacks the deep thinking aspect of the game but always has a shooters chance
  4. Dennis O - See SVB
  5. The Others - Not quite there (Including Mr. Tony)
  6. Alex P - Has got it all with the right ratio of Aggression to Defence. Knows all the moves and can slow it down and then hit the big shot which tilts out most opponents. Nobody makes the big PRESSURE bank like Alex and we all know about his heart and gamble.
