Corvette bet only $25 on the Shane vs. Dennis match in the action room so I doubt he will want to bet $1500 on Shane vs Lil Ko lmfao

Why don't they have commentary for the better matches. Those people over there are so boring. Danny Diliberto would do fine.

Last year there was commentary for the semi finals and finals with Ralf Souquet and Ted Lerner I think. Not sure if they are going to have any this year.

There is always an excuse why Shane does good. The rack, the luck of the draw, the hearing aids. 44-14 in two days in alternate break is pretty damn good in any field in 9 ball.

While I like Fargorate, it measure long term speed. Like you play 10 matches, Wu will be favorite to win most
But this is 1 match in semi and in final
So any of 4 can win

So all depends on the form, condition of these 4 players 17 hrs from now
It can be touch and go. Whoever feels best on the day may just wipe the floor
They are all fantastic breakers, runout freaks so it is unlikely to be big margin win like 11-2, 11-1. All 4 can B&R well. Pressure is few notches higher, hands are not as smooth
Any of the 4 would be deserving as they are the cream :D

This stat is huge....gianormous. "44-14 in two days in alternate break" That's a horse fraking. He just smoked some of the best in the world.

But, I believe Spartan's statement represents reality the closest. Alternating break will reign in the player that has the strongest game on the day and give the opponent a chance to come back. A simple thing like a dry open break can snatch victory from the stronger player.

This isn't my favorite format, but it's exciting. It's like running restrictor plates at Daytona 500, it gives everyone a chance to run with the big dogs. In the end, it's anyone's game.

I would love to see Shane win a WC but, that's all it is, a title. Any of the top 16 could have won this format. Nothing changes, Shanes still the best.

So the matches start at 6:30est tomorrow - by when do you suppose the stream will be functional?

For what's it worth, Kozoom stated in the chat the last couple of days the ISP was blocking their outgoing feed and ports, etc. Then today when the feed became perfect after the first session they made a comment in the chat that there should be no more problems as they had now switched ISPs. We'll see.

I'll be up at 6:30.

I think Shane's play in this event (at least in the matches I have watched) was subpar all the way through the second game of his match today with Yu-Lung Chang (Shane missed 4 shots in the first 2 games of that match!). But then, for the remainder of the Yu-Lung match Shane played pretty well while also benefiting greatly from inferior (for him) play from his opponent. My expectations for Shane for the Orcollo match were not sky high. And look what he did.

This is truly a fickle game. I think Colin Colenso spoke about that earlier in this thread. How will Shane do tomorrow? Winning the next two matches is quite a challenge, but he is certainly capable of meeting it.

Chang can play real nasty and he was the one who knocked Shane out of this tournament last year.

How nasty, you say?

You might remember he had the CB nearly frozen to the nine in the middle of the foot rail, went opposite handed and banked it straightback for the win. He's a great player but also played a little above his head. Shane got a little bit of revenge this time around.

Dennis also eliminated Shane from the semis at the Expo this year.

These guys all vacillate with the strength of their play. Every one of them is liable to snap off a monster set at the drop of a hat.

Just looked at the US Open 9b list, no Wu as of yet.

There were ~10 China/Taipei guys.

I agree, my post was more about whoever claimed it was the luck of the draw that brought Shane this far.

I'm not a fan of alternate break ( actually I hate it lol ) but I love the idea someone suggested about if it's alternate break it's a win by two tournament. But then again some of the players pace this tournament it could add on days lol.

Streaming problems have never been caused by the streamer-Not even once. It's all these outside forces that just don't want to allow a decent stream-Im guessing it's the Illuminati or perhaps by an Executive Order form Obama !!

PS- The earth is flat!

ISP stands for Internal Spectral Phenomena...
...it's the ghost in the machine

90% of the stream problems are at the viewers end. This must be true because a streamer told me. ;) Johnnyt

we don't care who, what causes the disconnects. Fix it, make it work!!! World level promotion with a seemingly small investment..but hey, the Wright Bros had their problems also. We will be patient for an undisclosed amount of time.

Do you really think he wasn't watching???

If vette don't want it, We can post and bet the 1k.

Do you really think he wasn't watching and waiting for Vette to sign off before making the offer and then retracting it less than five minutes later?

Jaden

p.s. The original post did not include the offer, he edited that in later. It only said that first sentence. So he waited 7 minutes before retracting the offer...

According to my correspondence with Kozoom, commentary is likely to be the same as it was last year.

I wish Kozoom/Qatar Billiard & Snooker Federation would consider setting up offsite, a set of commentators in various countries, whereby the each set of commentators would be responsible for one match per day.

Additional commentary could enhance their already stellar production.

Kozoom's camera work is EXCELLENT, if that who is doing the camera work. Whoever is doing the production of the camera work for the World 9 Ball Championship 2015 is doing an EXCELLENT JOB!

THANK YOU KOZOOM AND QATAR BILLIARD & SNOOKER FEDERATION, in advance.

I hate commentary. One of the best things about the small amount of this tourney I have gotten to watch so far is the lack of pointless banter about how the commentator thinks the player will play shape and "how good is this guy playing right now!!!" meaningless verbal diarrhea.

Simply the sound of the break and the click of the balls as the players run out.

Yea. I hear you... but 93% of viewers like commentary(me also). Some commentators are bad, I admit. Commentary adds always something to match IMO. Even if they call shots wrong. Always chance you might learn something new or new point of view,

Agreed 100%. I hit the mute button well over 80% of the time when there is commentary. Losing the sound of the balls clicking and the other game sounds is, more often than not, a price worth paying for the absence of commentary.

Only the handful of commentators that weigh a player's options before the most complex shots and also evaluate critical decisions after the fact add value for me.
