★Sandcastle - $20,000 One-Pocket Challenge★

I'm surprised but glad John kept it interesting.
I was thinking whitewash after the first two games. Was shocked when I tuned in later to see it
sorta-kinda close. At least humanly possible.

The steering is brutal to behold.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that when one side has a cheerleading squad on the rail, it's hard for the opposing party to fade. I did not see this match, but I hope the cheerleading is equally distributed and not one-sided. That alone can definitely affect the outcome of a match, whether you're a social shooter, an amateur, or an aspiring pro. In fact, it's difficult for some pros to tune it out.

I covered that in my last post and totally agree. Mechanics can start to fail for the average player the more pressure builds up. It's easy to criticize from behind the computer when I am sure I would have some flaws...maybe not the flailing arms flaw, but I am sure something wouldn't be right compared to how I normally shoot.

Totally agree I was playing Larry Nevel a few years back and of course it drew a big crowd. He made enough mistakes that I should have won but I was never comfortable.
After watching the video I noticed that for some reason I was standing to close to the table. Any other time I would have caught it but I was nervous and it showed.
Props to both players. Both players made some very nice banks and behaved what time I was watching. John needs to work on staying down and finishing straight. It's got to be worth at least a ball if not more.
Again, it was a great match from what I watched and Lou and John put on a good show

It was fun to watch, I really believe John's demeanor isn't conducive to patient one pocket. Not so much with his safety play as with his shot making. Don't get me wrong, they both played ok IMO under these conditions especially, but John has to bring it down a few notches if he's gonna pull this out today.

Those big sweeping warm up stokes were actually frightening to me at times. Looked like he was going to wail away at shots that he actually hit soft.

John, cut down all that cue movement man, it isn't doing you any good.

Be it my own or a backers money, it's gotta be nerve racking playing in front of cameras for the first time with that much on the line.

Good job to both! When can I get in on this .... LOL ....

Never mind, I just checked my savings account ... not enough to drive to NJ.

I know it's probably entertaining for the 1 hole players, but some "C+ and "B" players just have too much money to want to piss away. 10K LOL. Johnnyt

Gotta love how the ultimate railbird Thaiger is woofing it up. Anonymous troll who has no game at all but the all time great armchair quarter back. Really rather disgusting.

Don't worry about it. This guy has me on ignore, apparently, yet mentions me in every post he makes. What's THAT all about?

And obviously he's a household name, with evidence of his brilliant play all over the internet.

I think that JB and Lou should be able to get action pretty easy anywhere they go after last night. I think the nerves got the better of them. Lou plays smarter but JB out played him. JB is what I call a Go-for he goes for everything! I love to play guys that play that way because they end up selling out most of the time. Lou was shooting ok until JB started shooting back at him and making balls. Once JB shot back at Lou, Lou started dogging balls that he was free popping in the first 2 games.

It was the hardwood floor guy.

.
.

and he was "hard" to listen too... yowsers.... either pipe down or comment on the game that is RIGHT in front of you. Of course, during the "incident" these guys didn't see anything cause they were not watching the match ....

I think the nerves yes got to them, but they were both very tired at the end. Sitting down might have been worst thing for Lou. Anytime they sat, the Sandman (I'm talking about the sleep inducer, not Eddie the Sandman!!!!) could have easily taken over.

I know one thing, if I tried to play that tired, forget about it. I can barely shoot at all, let alone tired.

Freddie <~~~ doesn't disagree, however

From someone who doesn't watch any one pocket, it seems difficult to get a grasp on how good they actually play, purely because they're not running balls all the time.

Based on what I saw, Lou would absolutely rape Barton at 9 ball.

As I don't like to say, I may be the only person who has played both in the same 9-ball tournament. Your assessment would be incorrect, even though the look of both are the same if they're playing 9-ball.
