💡💡Tournament SHENANIGANS!! Smh

So I played in my first tournament EVER on Friday night. But amazingly, several people that I knew personally were ranked incorrectly! For example, if the tournament uses APA rankings and I'm an 8. And I KNOW Joe is an 8, because we just played a leauge match against eachother and gamble cheaply EVEN. But I come in as an 8 but he is a 6 😤😤😤😤 SMH!! I found about 5 of these errors. Anyway, the guy that won the tournament undefeated I played in my first match of the night. It went hill-hill. 4-4. He comboed the 1-9 in to win 5-4 SMH SMH
 
Played in several tournaments like that. You just get use to it. Some tournament directors are better than others with that stuff
 
I'm not naive..Im just saying that if it is stated that the rankings are based off of info that's public record then come on �� DON'T ROB ME LIKE THAT!! ���� #NotFunny
 
My experience with tournaments, and during the 90's I played in many, is concentrated in the NYC area, but I imagine that they all operate in a similar manner.

When one first enters an ongoing handicapped tournament, they are almost always handicapped on the high side. This is done to protect the integrity of the tournament by lessening the possibility of a newcomer coming in and "robbing' the tournament.

Then, as the player loses a preset number of tournaments (perhaps 4) at his original handicap, the handicap is automatically lowered a ball at a time, if/when he wins, his handicap then goes up a ball. So it is possible, even probable, that your and another player's handicap will vary from time to time.

The ones I play sometimes say "Based in APA ranking, but changed at the discretion of the tournament director."

I have 3 "speeds"! And NO, I can't control them! I have a league speed, a tourney speed, and gambling speed! You're and 8 such as myself. So,,,

If you and me play league, you win by probably 20 balls. If we play tourney, it's a coin flip. If we gamble,,,, You're toast!

I'm a ball better at least when something nice is on the light! I have to much stress playing for a team because my team sees me play when I'm gambling and think I can't lose. And my tourney speed drops because I'm in a 20 dollar tourney??? WTF am I doing here??

I would relax with lower and higher handicaps and just play!

Who cares, pool has been nothing but a "hustle" and 99% of everyone in it is trying to do the same, take money out of your pocket to insert in there's!

I played around the same time, mostly in lower Westchester, and it was pretty much the same. Except if it was a tournament that I didn't play before, they'd ask I shoot some practice racks to get a feel for how I played. Mostly, it was a consensus from other competitors as they had played me before. But yes, it started a bit high and came down after a few weeks. That'd prevent the dumpers/sandbaggers. The ranks would go something like 7, 8, 9, +1, +2, +3

Should have brought your A game, you know....the one you keep trying to educate everyone with when it comes to gambling am doing matching up with other players....LOL

I'm NOT the best player. But I am fine with my game PROVIDED THAT EVERY OTHER PERSON IS RANKED PROPERLY!! ✔

If the tournament does use APA S/L then they're also figuring in the history of every player.
You've never played in a tournament and have no history, but apparently you are a known player.
Perhaps next time or two you will be ranked more appropriately if you continue to get beat and
create a history for yourself.

The balls roll different for everyone, but generally if you're the better player you should win regardless
of the spot. If you continue to lose maybe you've over estimated your ability and skill level.
