Some variations on rules but what I played was:
nominate pocket
break the balls, dont have to make one
shoot as many balls as you can into chosen pocket without missing
Total balls over 5 racks
Apparently Efren rapes the ghost playing to 40, freak!
Just curious but how does running 15 balls into 1 pocket rate, I imagine people like Efren,Corey etc can do this pretty often? It felt like it was a decent achievment though

Only played it a couple of times so still experimenting with the break. I got this score placing the cb a couple of inches to the right of the head spot and playing a cut break across the pack stunning off the side rail with side to bring the cb to the middle of the table. I would always nominate the opposite pocket to the side of the head spot I placed the cueball. Usually right side of the spot, left corner pocket.
PS
The deliberate scratch into the corner pocket medium pace also works well if youre playing ball in hand off the scratch.

I don't know how hard it is, but I can do 15 in one pocket more often than 50 in 14.1!
Great score. I have run out 15 in one pocket a few times and asked on another thread which was harder, running a rack of 15 ball rotation or a rack of 15 in one-pocket. What do you think? I've only played a little one-pocket, and a lot of rotation. It seems to me it's easier in one-pocket, even though it may be impossible sometimes.

this is my experience with the rotation ghost,1pocket ghost .on a gold crown with waxed balls, new cloth ,and 4.5 pockets my best is 71 in 5 innings .but with ball in hand ill take 5 tries to get 15 into one pocket.twice with ball in hand ive run 4 racks in a row in one hole.ive run 3 racks 4 other times.also in mobile after i played ronnie alcano some ten ball ,he told me he would take 3 to 1 playing the 15ball ghost.well to say the least it peaked my interest to see if i could do that.i went back to milton on a diamond with new cloth,waxed balls and 4.75 pockets.perfect conditions basically.i played the ghost over about a 12 hour period over 3 days and the ghost won 90-33 so i did cover it at 3to1.what i did though was rack the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,etc from top to bottom and break easy so the balls would not change ends and make the runs impossible.the only thing was i played to where you had to run the table clear to win you could not shoot a combo on the 15 or make it on break to win.now dont get me wrong i had no pressure on me and i had perfect playing conditions.

Interesting points, I don't think 15 ball rotation is nowhere near as hard, especially if rackin the balls like you say. Running 71 in 5 racks is MUCH harder, esp since that short stop, whats his name, Efren only has to make 40 when gambling, apparently. Ball in hand makes a big difference but still impressive scores. I shall def play it more when I get my own table, boy I wish I had access to those conditions!

actually ive done 71 twice without ball in hand to start.also efren does not rob 40 .myself i think on easy table i would shoot at 32-35 ,if i remember correctly some guys let efren try 35 at hard times and he did not win,but those tables are tough.

At the risk of this sounding like a fishing tale, I have heard that Allen Hopkins plays the 1-pocket ghost, 12, no count. That to me, is very strong. But, when or was it lately, I don't know.
John, you should know since you two are pretty close, but didn't Bobby Hunter make a pretty good score playing the ghost back when.

I am in the habit of racking all the balls randomly playing the ghost, even the 1 ball to save time and keep the balls cleaner while I play (by handling them less). We used to always rack rotation with all the biggest balls closest to the center and smallest on the outside.
Do you also have a special order for racking the balls in straight pool to make it easy to run 400, lol, my straight pool needs help!
