100% Cotton NOT Allowed?

For Pete's sake, what are they trying to turn pool into golf, like the PGA or some such nonsense? Who really gives a rats ass what clothes someone is wearing? I mean come on! :kma:

Add this to the list of reasons pool will never make it big. Face it, left to their own devices people would show up looking like slobs. I'm all for dress codes in tournaments.

ChicagoRJ...Oh come on now. If they paid you a million a year, you'd be out there in your birthday suit, if they told you to!

Yeah, because synthetic polyester is just sooooooooo professional !!

Golf is like what, a gazzion dollar business and some of them dress like complete dorks (you know, the short pants with high socks from yesteryear!!) geez.....

typical elitist, pretentious, intellectualist approach to managing an organization...

Everybody always wants to put their fingerprints on everything. Rarely do you hear anybody say "I can not improve on whats been done before me"...

Human arrogance is what drives micromanaging...

Who watches pool on TV anymore? If the WPBA really wants to secure a future on TV they need to dress down the women, not put them in business suits pretending sophistication is what we strive for and pool is just the vehicle to present it to us...

Always funny to see people projecting image... I just run balls...

I'd love to see someone show up for the tournament dressed like that ... with the bright and colorful full golf outfit, including the hat with the fuzzy ball on top. :) As long as it wasn't 100% cotton, it should be allowed!

And while their being so professional, what happened to my $100 donation to support the WPBA? I was to be mailed stuff in 6-8 weeks...that was SEVEN months ago. I could bash on and on. Johnnyt

Exactly! Now you've found something worth complaining about. That is BS.

I think it was 1987, the WPBA board voted to fine Jean Balukas for not complying with the dress code.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you are referring to the incident that caused Jean to quit playing the WPBA, then the fine was for some remark she made on TV to or about Robin Bell (Dodson). It was not a fine for a dress code violation.

i was just pointing out that it states "no white t-shirts", "no %100 cotton", and "no graphic T's"... i was just being an ass by saying that its not well worded.

First most of the touring pro's get clothes sponsors who pay them to wear their golf apparel.Second their is a dress code on the PGA and NO you can't wear shorts. Most of the golf clothes they wear are alot more expensive than what you are probably wearing i.e $100 shirts $200 pants etc.
What I don't get is the 3C players are all professionally dressed in white shirt bow tie and vest. I just watched Efren play a match on Utube and he was dressed in shirt and tie.We need to clean up the dress before people start to think of you as professional.Just my opinion

For me, the point is, I want to watch good pool. I could give a rat's ass what they're dressed like. If I want to look at clothes, I'll go to a friggin' fashion show!
I really don't see the need for ANY dress code, of ANY kind. Just shoot pool for Christ's sake. :bash:

It would be quite funny to go back and look into Paul Schofields thread about the dress code at his place, and see how many folks applauding and supporting him. Then come back and see some of those same folks here bashing the Women's Professional Tour THAT IS ON TV for having a dress code. I'm not gonna bother to look, but I'm thinking there just might be a few examples...

Personally, I realize it looks silly, spelled out. Someone else pointed out that they have to spell it out because if you don't you will have those who will push the boundaries and test the enforcement. This is the absolute truth. They are attempting to control how they project their image, as a tour. Since they are marketing their product, they not only have the right, but the responsibility to do so. The discussion of how successful their leadership is or isn't is a whole other argument, unless you truly believe this dress code is causing some issue with their success/lack thereof.

Look, I don't get the 100% cotton argument either. I'm simply not gonna make a big deal about it. Someone involved probably knows the reason, and there certainly must have been one to spell it out like that.

That one was a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct, this was for not complying with the dress code. She didn't wear an evening gown when she played.

You can read it here on wiki under Dress Code Controversy.

And how is the 3C TV deals and sponorships doing now that their sport is all cleaned up. Lets not make pool something it ain't.

I don't care how much golfers pay for their funny pants and shirts, they look like dorks for heavens sake !! Yeah, it's old school, but so is wearing "Lederhosen" but I never saw that catch on even with the numerous German immingrants in this country.

At least, he's an honest whore.

I'd like to see them actually control this. "Excuse me maam, please lift your skirt so we can check the tag". Yeah right.

Just cut all the tags off and show up for you match, if asked tell em its 99% cotton, which is true, most all tags are poly. Now which guy would like to have the job of skirt checking ;).

Shoes should look good with dress pants

This is simply an opinion. What I think looks good is not necessarily what someone else may think looks good. I agree though about the dress code being funky!
